Why are you running for this office?

Voters of the Village of Sheboygan County. I would like to answer all the questions put forth to the Candidates for the Random Lake Village Board. Why I want to Continue being a Trustee.

Knowing that being a Trustee is a worthwhile Privilege, I believe our Board is working better than ever. After the several years that I have been on the Village Board I have noticed that we have a personable variety of talent in the hands of an excellent leadership including our President, Mike SanFillipo, our Public Works Director, Peter Federer, our two Ladies who run the Office, Clerk Treasurer Stephanie and Deputy Clerk Treasurer Carissa, and staff members who are always on task no matter the weather or other situations that come up. That is why I want to be involved in being a Trustee. When we have Board Meetings and Committee Meetings, those in Leadership are present to give us information and to agree or disagree and tell us why or why not. We as Trustees are not running the Village, everyone on staff is who we work with. Yes, the final say is our vote, however, it is they who give us their ideas and comments, as much as residents who speak with them and us, that make the wheels turn. It is one of my greatest work environments and I am so pleased to help make things go well, including managing the budget of my Committees for the well-being of our Village.

I give them all a Huge Thank You and I so appreciate the value of their work and am proud to be a member, and hoping to continue with your Vote because it is invigorating and I value the opportunity.

I lived on Lilly Road and Capitol Drive when I was starting to work at age 17 and I actually walked to work several times all the way to Piccolo's Pizza on about 77th and Capitol for two years. I then worked at the Milwaukee Western Bank, WI State Bank on Downer, Continental Can Co. as a TellaTyper for the Production Control Department, (who by the way served Random Lake at the time with Jolly Good and the Vegetable line) a Therapist, Kohls Department Store Offices then near Mayfair, Taught at MPS, then at an Innovative Charter Cyberschool, followed by moving to Random Lake and worked at Summer School for 20 years, Elementary School, and finally in Special Education for 7 years until retiring in 2017 when my grandson graduated. I have worked as a Substitute Teacher in all grades for TOC: Teachers on Call since then. While getting my most current Masters Degree, a class in School Law was a requirement. Maybe because the Chief Judge of Milwaukee, also my Brother in Law as well as his Grandkids who were all in the profession of several kinds of legal issues, I too became addicted to learning about some of the twenty-one types of Law. However, I soon became addicted to Civil Law which I found most interesting because it mostly involves People and Community. As a result, I put my hat in the ring to try to win as a Trustee for Random Lake. As a Trustee and especially when I teach Social Studies I feel like I can assist in learning, creating and developing an understanding of what residents want and need, along with the businesses we work with and how we can serve us well as we meet our budget. It keeps me abreast of what is happening after meetings when the Board must make big and small decisions that must always be in the best interest or resource for the Community. When anyone asks questions about the Village’s Open Meetings I eagerly listen carefully and find out what ideas and/or questions about topics we deal with are and I respond the best way I can. That brings me to what we do as Trustees.

I have reached major goals in my lifetime, and now I plan to visit Scotland and Ireland where my parents are originally from. I want to learn what the culture is like as well as enjoy the fabulous scenery. My Mom asked me to paint a picture of Scotland, I did that for her. It was like a hill, very country like, that flowed down into the ocean. She was from the Isle of Barra, which probably echos the look of the terrain, barren, but lovely.
