Why are you running for office?

I want to ensure that the community I live in has true representation on the Common Council. Like my parents and grandparents, I was born and raised in Sheboygan. And now that I'm raising my children here, I have a vested interest in seeing my hometown become an even better place to raise a family.

Cite major goals you want to accomplish and how you plan to achieve those goals.

I believe one need is for an increase in leadership transparency. We need to hold city officials accountable to spend our tax dollars to improve streets, parks and infrastructure, and not on wasteful legal defense. I also believe that we ought to better manage and maintain our public facilities along our beautiful lakefront which will help encourage local business growth there and throughout the city. Ultimately, I'd love to see Sheboygan become an even better place to raise a family. We can do this by ensuring that police and fire services are always fully funded, incentivizing affordable family-friendly housing, and strengthening nonprofit organizations that support children and parents.

However, my first and foremost obligation as an alderman is to represent the people. I will do that by listening to the concerns of my community, specifically those in my district. I will prioritize the consensus of my constituency above my personal opinions. That should be the mandate every elected official should follow. And that is a promise I will make-- to thoughtfully listen to and be the voice of the people I represent on our city's common council.

How will you assist in bringing affordable housing to the community?

I see how new apartment complexes are contributing to overall rising housing costs in our community. I would like to research solutions to incentivize the development of more family-friendly housing.

How does your experience qualify you for the position?

As a professional business analyst, I understand the importance of making good data-driven decisions and will bring my problem-solving skills to help craft policies that address our community’s needs.

How will you assist with attracting talent and making your community attractive to young adults starting their careers?

Attracting young adults starting their careers is an important element to a city. However, getting them to stay as they start their families is vital. The family is the bedrock of society because it serves as the primary institution for socialization, emotional support, and economic stability. Sincere civic responsibility and sustainable growth comes primarily through a strong family structure. Any initiative that supports those things are desirable to young adults and families alike.
