Education Funding: What, if anything, should change about how the state funds public education? What is your position on using taxpayer money for private education?

The tax money allocated to education should STAY with education! The current structure allows the Governor and state legislature to use that money in any way they see fit. We should also lift the 3% raise cap on our teachers. We must increase teacher pay. Funding should not be solely determined on school attendance numbers.

Children: What are your recommendations to improve the state’s care of children in protective services, foster care, and the juvenile justice system?

Our children are the most important members of our community and deserve only the best care, especially if they've entered into CPS custody. We need to fully fund our Child Protective Services. We need to hire more social workers so they aren't overworked and burnout. The juvenile justice system should be structured for kids to be successful members of our community instead of a life full of crime.

Border: What should the state do, if anything, with respect to immigration and border security?

For Border, I will work with Republican colleagues to secure the Border. Fund the Legal immigration processing. Stop illegal immigration at the Border. Work with House and Senate to ensure skilled Labor force is available for Texas Agriculture, cattle industry, Mineral oil and renewable energy sectors, farming, retail, infrastructure, construction and many more. Texas will need skilled immigration to thrive as the 9th largest economy of the world. I will ensure Texas is prosperous by ensuring legal immigration.

Reproductive Rights: What changes, if any, would you support to current state legislation about abortion, contraception, or related services?

We need to return to the time when women have equal rights over their own bodies as men do. We need to go back to pre-Dobbs decision when abortion access and essential healthcare was accessible for all women. It is essential women are able to seek the life-saving healthcare needed in the most difficult times of their lives. Contraception should be free and accessible for all. Data shows that the more educated and more access people have to contraception, the lower the unwanted pregnancy rate.

Healthcare: What state legislation, if any, is needed to increase access to affordable healthcare for Texas residents?

In Texas and across the U.S., people enrolled in a health insurance program — private or public — have better access to health care than the uninsured: studies show that the uninsured are less likely to get prevention services or care they need for their major health conditions and chronic diseases. Texas faces long-standing challenges to optimal health, including the nation’s highest uninsured rates, not to mention steep financial barriers (such as co-pays, deductibles) for people who have insurance.

Gun Violence: What, if anything, should be done at the state level to reduce gun violence?

Reasonable people can agree we have some problems in this state and in this country when it comes to guns. Data shows that some common sense things such as universal background checks, closing the gun show loophole, red flag laws, safe storage requirements, and access to assault style rifles for anyone under a certain age are things most people agree with. This type of legislation would allow for everyone that legally purchases a gun to still be able to do so, while keeping guns out of the hands of those that shouldn't. This leads to a safer community so that we can all attend concerts,

Elections: What actions, if any, would you take to ensure that all eligible voters have equal access to safe and fair elections?

Implement widespread voter education campaigns to inform citizens about the electoral process, registration procedures, and voting options. Disseminate information through multiple channels, including online platforms, public service announcements, and community events. Simplify and streamline voter registration processes to make it more accessible for all citizens. Provide online registration options and ensure that registration forms are available in multiple languages. Expand early voting options.

Climate: What, if anything, should the state government do to mitigate and/or adapt to climate change?

Follow the money. We need to give incentives to the big corporations that are biggest contributors of methane gas to incentivize them to reduce their carbon footprint. We should prepare our current workforce for the transition to clean-energy jobs, and we must understand how climate change affects the economy. Stronger, bigger hurricanes, more frequent weather related incidents, and flooding cost us ALL.

Water and Energy: What, if anything, should the state government do to ensure that water and electricity are consistently available and affordable for Texans, now and in the future?

Water conservation initiative, investment in water infrastructure, drought preparedness and response, groundwater, supporting agriculture water efficiency, water quality protection and engaging community engagement

Other Issues: What other issues do you believe will be most pressing in the next session of the Texas Legislature, and what is your position on these issues?

Vouchers, the continued attacks on the LGBTQ+ community, culture wars by the Republicans. I would like to see the TX Legislature focus on things that affect people like lowering your property taxes, fully funding education, support for small business owners, and access to healthcare.
