What makes you the best qualified candidate for this position?

I am the best candidate because I am driven by my passion to authentically advocate for the needs and rights of all people - particularly the most marginalized. Through working in the Texas House of Representatives for nearly half a decade as a Legislative Director, I gained the skills and knowledge necessary to address systemic barriers and foster meaningful change through policy. In addition, my dedication to this community is unwavering. I am committed to creating a future where power and resources are genuinely accessible to everyone so every individual can thrive.

How would you address the top two challenges the City of San Marcos faces?

I am committed to championing publicly owned initiatives that intervene in the housing market, granting community control over land to maintain affordability for future generations. I also aim to ensure the city effectively uses local, state, and federal funds to prioritize flood mitigation, implementing comprehensive strategies to retrofit homes in high-risk flood zones and enhance resilience against climate-induced flooding.

What specific actions related to city infrastructure would you introduce to effectively manage growth (roads, utilities, etc.)?

We must engage residents and local businesses through public forums and town halls to ensure infrastructure development meets community needs. Concurrently, a comprehensive long-term infrastructure plan is essential, addressing projected growth with phased strategies for roads, utilities, and public services. This approach will ensure infrastructure keeps pace with population increases and supports sustainable, effective development.

What makes you the best qualified candidate for this position?

As a small business owner, I have gained firsthand experience managing day-to-day operations, developing strategic plans, and fostering relationships with customers and local stakeholders. I understand the importance of making informed decisions that balance fiscal responsibility with the need for growth and innovation. My experience has taught me the value of collaboration, as well as the importance of listening to diverse perspectives to find solutions that benefit the entire community. My approach is grounded in transparency, open communication, and a deep respect for the people I work with and serve.

How would you address the top two challenges the City of San Marcos faces?

I understand the importance of economic prosperity and the need for good-paying jobs. I’m committed to reducing the barriers that stand in the way of success for our local businesses, streamlining permit processes and making sure that businesses of all sizes, new and legacy have access to all the resources they need to continue to provide jobs and support livelihoods. I’m committed to advocating for affordable housing and fair pricing. We cannot allow the cost of living to push our residents out of the city they love. The City of San Marcos needs to open it’s doors and encourage more supply that meets the demand.

What specific actions related to city infrastructure would you introduce to effectively manage growth (roads, utilities, etc.)?

We need ADA sidewalks that connects one side of San Marcos to the other and well-lit unimpeded areas throughout the community that promote a safer environment. Add more streamlined bus routes to cater to all San Marcos residents. Our differently abled citizens are limited by our current transportation options. That must change.
