What do you see as the top issue facing county businesses in recruiting and retaining staff, and how do you believe it should be rectified?

Affordable housing is by far the number one priority for us as a county. Our current housing vacancy rate is less than 1% compared to the healthy average of 5% to 7%. Sheboygan County, in collaboration with local municipalities and the SEDC (Sheboygan Economic Development Corporation), has and will continue to work to expand more housing options to meet the needs of our local manufacturers.

Should county government take an active role in sustaining and growing tourism, and, if so, what initiatives can the County take?

Yes, Sheboygan County has been at the table with our local communities and business leaders to advocate and promote all the wonderful things that Sheboygan County has to offer people looking for vacation options. One example of our role in promoting Sheboygan County was our recent contract with Discover Wisconsin to showcase all the amenities that Sheboygan has to offer.

Discuss your experience and how it qualifies you for the position you seek.

Since my appointment to the County board in 2017 I have had the privilege to serve on several committees and also currently hold leadership roles for committees such as Chairman of the Health and Human Services, Vice-Chairman of the Rocky Knoll committees as well elected by my fellow supervisors to serve as a member of the Executive Committee. In addition, I have been appointed to represent Sheboygan County on both the Wisconsin Counties Associations Legislative and HHS Sterring committees.

Why are you running for office?

I believe that Sheboygan County is approaching an apex of opportunity that will benefit all residents and businesses for decades to come. I could not ask to work with a better group of community leaders and that's what I'm so proud to be part of as a member of the County Board.

Cite major goals you want to accomplish if elected and how you plan to achieve those goals.

Alot of great accomplishments have been already made. Most recent examples would be taking ownership of the FOB (Fixed Based Operations) at the County airport, building a new Asphalt plant ensuring that we continue to maintain and improve our county as well local roadways. The new dam at the marsh will only help to expand more opportunities to showcase Sheboygan County as a vacation destination. As for future goals I would like to see us continue to provide our proven track record of providing and maintaining programs and services to the resident while maintaining a responsible tax-levy.
