Relevant Experience Currently Alderman of 10th District, I was on the Sheboygan Common Council previously. I was also an Aderman and Mayor of Sheboygan Falls. Having served two communities, addressing issues during different time periods of growth and lack of growth, I have hands-on real-time understanding of how cities must adapt to changing financial issues.

Why are you running for office?

I like serving the constituents of the 10th district as well as all the citizens of Sheboygan. I believe all electoral contests should have competition. At the time of taking out my papers no one else was running. I am pleased the residents of the 10th will have a choice to make.

Cite major goals you want to accomplish if elected and how you plan to achieve those goals.

Affordable housing and the development of the Gartman and Poth farms. We have heard about this over and over again. We need to discuss and determine ideas that are unique to our city and our needs rather than a cut-out copy of other big city developments. What type and size of development will best fit the neighborhood? We all have it in our hearts to make Sheboygan a better place. How does this affect Police and Fire protection or the DPW in bringing us the services we need at a reasonable cost? I want to see a plan for the future that will avoid mistakes and that will work for a long time.

How will you assist in bringing affordable housing development to the community?

Collect citizen input from neighbors. Make sure that the need for this housing is an actual need according to the projected population and work force. Create a plan flexible enough to be able to make changes if the economy doesn't produce as forecasted. Consider this regions culture and traditions, age groups and pastimes in order to integrate them into a successful plan.

Discuss your experience and how it qualifies you for the position you seek.

I'm currently Alderman in the 10th district. I was on the Sheboygan Common Council previously. I was also an Alderman and Mayor of Sheboygan Falls. Having served two communities, addressing issues during different time periods of growth and lack of growth, I have a hands-on, real-time understanding of how the cities must adapt to changing financial and other issues.

How will you assist with recruiting and maintaining talent in the community?

Enlisting talent from among our own long-standing population is the best way to recruit employees that are invested in the area and wanting to see our city shine in its best light. Those charged with decision-making need virtue, openness, humility, and an overall sense of responsibility for every employee and every citizen they work with and for. Communications between citizens and governing bodies should be often, easy, and transparent, engaging as many factions of the community as possible. What exists now is less than adequate. Even the voting process is unclear to many.

Relevant Experience 12 years as an elected official on the Sheboygan Area School Board - Past President, Vice-President, Treasurer & Clerk

Why are you running for office?

Local government is a personal passion of mine, and it is in my blood. I spent 12 years on the SASD Board of Education from 2010-2022, where I served as President, Vice-President, Clerk and Treasurer. I also chaired several committees throughout my time on the Board.

After spending 12 years on the school board, I took a break from local government for my husband and I to build our retirement home. Knowing I wanted to get back into local politics, it was important to remain in the City of Sheboygan. Now that we are settled, I knew this was my time to run for a seat on the city council, not against a person. I believe with my business background and broad skill set, elected positions I could make a difference in our city. These skillsets will all contribute to the business aspects of the city workings, government, etc. and will ensure strong communication and interaction with the constituents of District 10.

Cite major goals you want to accomplish if elected and how you plan to achieve those goals.

I believe housing to support local business is the most important thing to address as it involves not only attracting individuals and families to our community but also retaining in the County of Sheboygan. It will be important to have community input for future development in our city, and specifically in District 10. How would you approach addressing the above-mentioned issue? I would work with city leaders to (1) obtain the economic indicators to understand current and future needs and opportunities for our housing and business, (2) gather input from the public, specifically in District 10, and (3) meet with businesses to gain their feedback. Based on the different data points listed above, I would look for the trends and common views to make the best decisions with my fellow council members to support the future generations of our city. We are not going to please everybody; however, communication as to “why” the decisions were made will be key.

How will you assist in bringing affordable housing development to the community?

Close collaboration with our local businesses to determine their needs, along with feedback from the constituents of district 10. Then I would bring my findings to the city leaders to recommend plans. I would be transparent with the people I represent and provide information to gain additional feedback. We are not going to please everyone, but we can provide transparent communication.

Discuss your experience and how it qualifies you for the position you seek.

I am a fourth-generation city of Sheboygan resident; I am joined this evening by my husband of 34 years, Tom We raised two adult children, our beautiful daughter Jeanie, who is also here this evening and our son, Tommy, and this past October we added to our family a daughter-in-law, Katie We are very proud of the fact that our adult children have settled in the city of Sheboygan as well.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing with a minor in computer science from Lakeland University

I have been employed by the Kohler co. for 38.5 years, with a background in finance, operations, project management, and customer service. For the past 26 years, I’ve been with the Kallista brand of KOHLER company where held many roles, and currently I am the Director of customer experience.

I believe with my business background and broad skill set, elected positions I could make a difference in our city. These skillsets will all contribute to the business aspects of the city workings, government, etc. and will ensure strong communication and interaction with the constituents of District 10.

In this nonpartisan position I want to be a voice for all residents in district 10. I want to be available & transparent. I think one thing we all can agree on is that we’re not going to agree on everything. But I believe it being transparent and communicating the whys Can at least give an understanding to the residents.

How will you assist with recruiting and maintaining talent in the community?

Address the housing issue, work with the school district to provide an education model that families are looking for. Provide amenities that attract people to an area and market the fact that the City of Sheboygan is a safe place to raise a family, lower cost of living without sacrificing quality and close to the big cities, without the crime/cost of living.
