Community Involvement I am active in the La Crosse County Board; active in community efforts to end homelessness

What draws you at this time to run for this position?

I have served on the La Crosse Co. Board of Supervisors since 2014. In that time I had served as the Vice Chair of the County Board, the Vice President of the Economic Development Fund, chaired the Judiciary and Law Committee, chaired the Health & Human Services Committee, served on the Criminal Justice Management Council. While I feel I have been effective in my role as a County Board Supervisor, I feel there is more work to be done to address significant issues in our community. I want to be a part of this work and to continue to make our community a great place to live, work and play. I feel strongly about ending homelessness, developing affordable housing, improving our policies around diversity, equity and inclusion and developing a strategic plan for our county. Serving another term would allow me to work on these very important issues.

What resources would you like to see at the county level that would benefit your district?

I believe resources should be directed towards the issues I referenced in my previous answer. However, I believe the highest priorities at this time are addressing homelessness and addressing diversity issues. I also believe that we need to get the Civilian Review Board off the ground, the fruition of the Hillview project as well as maintaining our great services that we offer to our residents.

What in your opinion are the top two issues facing La Crosse County?

Top two issues: 1. Homelessness 2. Affordable Housing

How would you most effectively address the issues you identified in the previous question?

I know that I alone cannot address these issues, so I feel it is important to effectively work with the entire board to identify and implement solutions. I am dedicated to the work that it takes to do this and I have demonstrated that throughout my time on the county board. Ultimately, these issues are beyond the scope of the county and requires collaboration with all the municipalities to get the job done. I am always a team player and I feel that I communicate and collaborate well with others. So ultimately, I would support collaborative efforts and help any way I can to address these issues.
