Community Involvement Ordinance Committee, work to get out the vote

What qualifies you for this position?

Having discovered and appreciated the Driftless Area in my late 20s, I made a deliberate effort to return in 2012. I joined the Ordinance Committee in 2023 to gain experience in town business and demonstrate my dedication to working for our citizens. With a background in conservation biology and over a decade of collaboration with governmental and non-governmental entities on natural resource management, I bring a wealth of knowledge and skills helpful for effective governance. My tenure as a publication coordinator for a small woman-owned company has further honed my ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. My diverse professional background equips me to address challenges facing our Town, ensuring informed decision-making, and fostering sustainable progress. I am committed to using common-sense approaches to lead our Town towards a prosperous future.

What are the top three priorities that you see for your town?

It is important to uphold the exceptional quality of life that our residents cherish while ensuring responsible fiscal management. This includes prioritizing essential services that contribute to our community's well-being while striving to keep taxes at a reasonable level.

We need to finalize 2 key ordinances: the ATV/UTV route designation and short-term rental properties, to address the evolving needs of our community. Establishing clear and reasonable regulations for proposing ATV/UTV routes not only ensures the safety of residents and visitors but also promotes responsible outdoor recreation. Similarly, implementing ordinances for short-term rental property management safeguards the character of our neighborhoods while balancing the economic benefits of tourism.

How will you work to meet those top three priorities?

As a candidate, I am committed to ensuring responsible fiscal management to sustainably maintain the amenities and infrastructure that contribute to the quality of life in our town, all while keeping taxes low. Furthermore, I recognize the importance of adhering to our 2022 Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a guiding framework for managing development and attracting businesses that align with the rural character of our community. This plan reflects the collective vision and aspirations of our residents and provides valuable guidance for maintaining the unique charm and identity of our town. I am committed to addressing the pressing need for finalizing two critical ordinances that will significantly impact our community. I firmly believe that listening to our residents is paramount in developing ordinances that truly reflect the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
