Qualifications
30 years of experience in both formal and voluntary roles serving the people of the 15th Senate District. More than 20 years of public policy experience promoting local businesses, healthy communities, and the importance of emergency service providers.
What do you see as the most pressing issues facing Pennsylvanians, and how would you address them?
My reason for running for the state senate is rooted in a desire to improve the quality of our public school system and to ensure that every parent has a choice in where their child attends school, whether public or private. Another critical issue facing most households is inflation and the need to put an end to senseless spending and seemingly endless tax increases. We need to place strict limits on how, where, and why we are spending tax dollars. Of equal importance to education and the economy is the safety of our citizens. Providing adequate funding to our police and emergency service providers is a must, as is fighting to protect our Commonwealth from bad federal policies, including sanctuary cities, that threaten our citizens.
What changes would you support making to Pennsylvania’s voting laws to expand access, ensure security, and support local election officials and processes?
As a former County Commissioner and member of the Dauphin County Election Board, I can say that access to voting precincts is convenient for most individuals. Our precinct partners provide a secure environment to ensure the fairness of elections, and I will work to make certain that these workers are respected and supported. As a Senator, I will respect the voice of local officials when making critical legislative decisions, and will be an advocate for the taxpayers while supporting safe and secure elections.
What legislation would you support to comply with the Commonwealth Court's ruling that Pennsylvania’s school funding system is unconstitutional and must be reformed?
Giving parents the right to choose the best school for their child’s education is essential. For the good of the student, we need to make certain that the restrictions we place on a student based on an address never limits their ability to succeed in life. As a Senator I will fight to ensure that every child has access to a great school.
What changes, if any, would you support making to Pennsylvania’s abortion laws?
I support Pennsylvania’s current law and will focus my time in office on improving Pennsylvania’s public school system, strengthening our economy, and on ensuring the safety and security of our citizens.
