Why do you want to be a Village of Saukville Trustee, and what qualifications and experience make you the best candidate?

After serving in the US Air Force during Vietnam followed by a career as an IT Capacity Planner, “retiring” into municipal government has been interesting and educational. It has been my pleasure to participate in our practice of strategic budget planning. I’ve observed in six short years how our community has benefited.

For most of my terms I have served on our plan commission. Our Village is experiencing positive well-planned growth. To our northeast we have the exciting Northern Gateway project. To the west we have the Crossroads development which is well underway. Both projects functionally restarted projects abandoned during the 2007 recession. To their credit, the developers didn’t simply pick up the projects where they left off. Rather, in each, they presented their modified vision in public hearings so that all who were present could discuss and provide feedback. Both projects evolved during that process and will add to our great small-town atmosphere.

What are the most important issues facing the Village of Saukville and how will you address them?

I am presently chair of the Public Safety committee. One of our major initiatives has been the Consolidation of the Grafton and Saukville Fire Departments. That process has allowed me to collaborate with peers across the four municipal entities serviced by the Grafton-Saukville Fire Department. I would like to see this through to completion in 2025. There is excellent information on the Village of Saukville website (villageofsaukvillewi.gov and follow the big red “2024 Referendum” button).

Our Village has three Board seats to fill in April. I nominated two others who are running, Brandon Ashley and Wendy Smith. If you’ve read about us in the Ozaukee Press or on our vote411 pages, you’ll have seen the three of us represent different demographics in our community. I believe the three of us will lead to continuing balanced representation of our neighbors. I hope you’ll support all three of us.

Please vote April 2nd.
