Coroner Choose 1

Indiana has a coroner system, not a medical examiner system. State law requires the Medicolegal Death Investigator (MDI) training and certification for all elected coroners. The coroner serves the role of an administrator of the death investigation, identification of the deceased, determination of the cause of death and determination of the manner of death. The coroner is considered an officer of the court with the power to investigate the death, subpoena information, and order an autopsy. Serves 4 years.

I have built a staff of Certified Medicolegal Death Investigators, have continued to improve compliance of state records management, and have continued to improve the Office of Coroner. With the increase in overdose deaths in Henry County, I began to work closer with county and state organizations to help educate citizens and provide resources.
