Personal Biography I’m a GRI-certified sustainability professional with 20+ years of global experience in environmental management and ESG. I serve on the WaterOne board, Climate + Energy Project, and Missouri River Relief—driven by a commitment to community service and protecting clean, affordable water for future generations.
Education I hold two master’s degrees: one in Environment and Society from the University of Pretoria (RSA), and another in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Portsmouth (UK). I earned my Bachelor of Science in Geography and Geology from the University of Wyoming, which laid the foundation for my career in sustainability and environmental management.
Community/Public Service I currently serve on the boards of two nonprofit organizations: Missouri River Relief and Climate + Energy Project. At Missouri River Relief, I help support community-based efforts to connect people to the Missouri River through education, stewardship, and advocacy. With Climate + Energy Project, I contribute to advancing equitable clean energy solutions and climate resilience across Kansas. These roles reflect my commitment to environmental stewardship and community-driven sustainability.

What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you for this position?

I bring over 20 years of experience in sustainability and environmental management across multiple sectors. I lead corporate sustainability strategy, serve as Chair of WaterOne’s Sustainability Committee, as well as the Admin and Government/Community Relations committees, and sit on the boards of two environmental nonprofits. My background combines technical expertise, governance experience, and a strong commitment to community-focused water stewardship.

What do you believe are the three critical projects or initiatives that will move our county forward? Which one would you start with?

Water Infrastructure Resilience – Investing in long-term reliability, climate adaptation, and sustainability of our water systems. Workforce Excellence at WaterOne – Building on our strong employee retention and continuing efforts to make WaterOne an employer of choice for Johnson County—because a thriving, engaged workforce directly benefits the community we serve. Sustainability Leadership – Advancing the work I began as a founding member of WaterOne’s Sustainability Committee to embed environmental and social responsibility into utility operations. I would start with Workforce Excellence, as it strengthens our ability to deliver reliable service, innovate, and support the Utility’s broader goals.

What factors will you advocate for to address fairness and equity in the Water Board rate structure?

I will continue to advocate for a rate structure that ensures affordability for essential water use, maintains transparency in how rates are set, and reflects the true cost of service across customer types. It’s important that our pricing model supports financial sustainability while not placing undue burden on low-usage or economically vulnerable households. As someone who values environmental justice, I believe equitable access to clean water is fundamental to community health and resilience—which our rate structure should reflect, and I believe that currently WaterOne's service to the community does exactly that.
