Personal Biography I’m Sam Komosa. I’m a 4th generation Johnson County resident and have lived in Mission since 2021 with my wife Alyson, 1-year old Lucille, and dog Luna. Professionally I am a Senior Project Manager at Fabri-Quilt – a local family owned textile manufacturing plant. I’ve represented Ward 2 on the Park, Recreation, and Tree Commission and in the time I’ve seen how engaging with citizens can really drive smart community-based policy.
Education University of Kansas, B.S.
Community/Public Service Ward 2 Commissioner, Mission Parks, Recreation + Tree Commission

What do you believe are the three critical projects or initiatives that will move your city/district forward?

1. Thoughtful Development - We must welcome new, sustainable development while protecting the things that make Mission a great place to live. That means giving small businesses a seat at the table, building more where it fits, and being careful not to overbuild where it doesn’t. 2. Investing in Roads – The City of Mission has made overdue improvements to our roads and infrastructure, but there is so much more to do. We should prioritize smart investment in these services and schedule road repair more proactively. 3. Supporting Parks & Rec – As a Parks, Recreation + Tree Commissioner, I’ve seen firsthand how our tax dollars have been put to great use. As a City Councilmember, I will continue to advocate for strong investment in parks & rec.

What skills, expertise, experience, or competencies qualify you for this position?

Professionally I am a Senior Project Manager at a family-owned textile manufacturing plant in North Kansas City that specializes in hospitality window treatments. Every day, I must collaborate with members of my team, hotel owners, and general contractors – all with an eye for delivering to those various stakeholders. That experience is why I know I’m right for this job of city council.

What makes this office an important part of the local government?

Local government has the most direct impact on our lives of any other civic entity. It shapes the quality of our streets, the caliber of our parks, and what types of businesses come to town. It is responsible for understanding the the priorities of the our residents and using hard earned tax dollars wisely. It's why Mission deserves thoughtful, collaborative leadership.
