Personal Biography
I grew up in Silver Lake and other than a couple of years when we first got married have lived here all of my life. I retired from teaching Math after 36 years mostly in Topeka-USD 501. I have been substituting at Silver Lake High School since retiring.
Education
B.Ed. from Washburn in 1981. M.Ed. from Washburn in 1998.
What would be your top three priorities if elected?
Support for administration.
Being a good steward for the patrons and stakeholders of the district.
Support for teachers.
What skills, expertise, experience, or competencies qualify you for this position?
I am a retired Math teacher with 36 years of experience. I feel this gives me valuable insight of the way things work from the classroom view. I am familiar with situations teachers deal with on a day to day basis and what they need to be able to do this.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
The responsibilities would be the same as the priorities. To support the administration make decisions necessary to keep our district at the high level we expect. To support the teachers to do their job again at the high level we expect and are accustomed to. To be a good steward for the patrons of the district.
