I’ll continue to be a visible, accessible board member who builds trust across the community.

I bring a well-rounded combination of classroom, leadership, and community experience that uniquely prepares me to serve on the Wichita Board of Education.

I previously worked as a paraeducator in USD 259, which gave me firsthand experience inside the classroom—understanding the real needs of students and the daily challenges our educators face.

Today, I serve as a Board of Education member for District 6, where I’ve built a track record of being present, responsive, and focused on outcomes. I was selected to serve on the Council of the Great City Schools Board, working with urban school leaders from across the country on shared challenges and solutions.

In addition, I bring skills in community engagement, creative problem-solving, and public communication through years of leadership in civic organizations, including as President of the Wichita Warriors Society Women’s Auxiliary. I’ve also successfully managed budgets and public-facing projects as an international clothing designer,

The core responsibility of a school board member is to serve the best interests of students while representing the voices of families, educators, and the broader community with integrity and transparency.

That means setting a clear vision for academic excellence, ensuring responsible oversight of the district’s budget and policies, and holding leadership—especially the superintendent—accountable for results.

It also means being present in the schools, accessible to the public, and committed to creating a safe, inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. A board member must lead with purpose, listen with humility, and always put students at the center of every decision.

1. Advocating for a school bond that addresses the needs of our public education system and reflects the values of our communities. My priority is always to keep neighborhood schools open and bring forward solutions that provide for small class sizes–especially at the elementary level, where small classes have better academic outcomes. 2. Addressing distracting technology in schools by revising Personal Electronic Device policies using model policies with demonstrated success nationally, and advocating for more pen and paper and printed text. I support technology use that develops transformative skills (coding, robotics, keyboarding, etc.) that prepare students for future success, while still centering learning opportunities that are academically and developmentally more conducive to student achievement. 3. Supporting all educators and staff with competitive pay, classroom support, and safe work environments which can lead to better job satisfaction and retention.

As the only candidate with current WPS students in the home, I bring a parent’s perspective navigating our public schools systems alongside parents and caregivers throughout the district. For the past decade, I’ve volunteered in my children's schools and with the district. I have served as the Riverside Elementary PTO President for 3 years, organizing events, fundraisers, and focusing on encouraging parent involvement. I currently work as a Guest Clerical Staff for WPS. At the district level, I sit on the Strategic Planning Committee for Technology, and was the WPS parent representative for the State BOE Blue Ribbon Task Force that determined personal electronic device recommendations. I've also served as Co-Chair of the KS Coalition For Distraction Free Schools and am part of the Screens In Schools national working group with the non-profit Fairplay. Prior to staying home to raise kids I worked as a healthcare recruiter and ran the volunteer dept. for a humane society in WA state.

The board is responsible for managing a budget in excess of 1 billion dollars to maximize academic outcomes for students and professional satisfaction for staff. The BOE creates a vision for WPS that reflects the values of our citizens, neighborhoods and city, and makes well-researched policy decisions while working with the superintendent to fulfill district directives. In-depth review of policies, handbooks and procedures and building strong connections with community members is imperative. Board members should draw upon the knowledge and experience of school and community professionals and establish connections with stakeholders (students, staff, and community) to make informed decisions.
