Personal Biography
I am Diane Albert, President of the Wichita Public Schools Board of Education. I have served on the board since 2022, including two years as Vice-President. As a longtime Wichita resident, former small business owner, and general contractor, I bring practical, results driven leadership to my role. I am deeply committed to student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and public service. I believe education is the most powerful way to strengthen families and communities.

I have served on the USD 259 Board of Education since 2022 and volunteer and help people from my church and use my construction skills to help those in need.
What would be your top three priorities if elected?
1. Improve Student Achievement. Continue aligning the board's work around academic goals, monitor progress with data, and ensure every student has access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success.
2. Ensure Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency. Protect taxpayer trust by aligning spending with student-centered goals, improving budget clarity, and making sure every dollar is used wisely and effectively.
3. Support and Retain Excellent Teachers. Continue to support competitive compensation, meaningful professional development, and a culture of respect that empowers teachers to focus on student learning.
What skills, expertise, experience, or competencies qualify you for this position?
I bring a combination of proven leadership, business experience, and a deep commitment to public education. As President and former Vice-President of the Wichita School Board, I have led efforts to focus our governance on student outcomes, fiscal responsibility, and accountability. My background as a small business owner and general contractor taught me how to manage budgets, solve problems, and follow through on complex projects, skills I use every day in board service. I was also selected for a national training through the Council of Great City Schools, where I studied how school boards can directly influence student achievement. I listen to all voices, build consensus, and lead with focus and integrity.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
The core responsibilities of a school board member include setting clear goals for student achievement, adopting policies that support those goals, and ensuring the superintendent is held accountable for achieving results. Board members must also oversee the budget with transparency and ensure that resources are used effectively to serve students. Above all, the role requires listening to the community, focusing on long-term impact, and making decisions that are in the best interest of all students.
