Personal Biography
I am a first-generation college graduate. I received my Diploma from Central High School in Burden, Kansas. My wife and me have six (6) children from 34 years of marriage.
Education
My educational background consists of, a BGS Degree in Administration of Justice, an MPA Degree in Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Public Finance from Wichita State University. Additionally, I attended law school at President's College School of Law, Wichita, Kansas and am well versed in municipal law issues.
Community/Public Service
I have served the people as a; code enforcement officer, city council member, city clerk, mayor, city administrator and city manager in rural Kansas municipalities. I am a Mu Alpha Theta math scholar, a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and function under the International City/County Management Association’s Twelve Tenants of Ethics. I am trained in negotiations, crisis intervention, grant writing, strategic management and research, customer service and teamwork. I have served as an advisor to numerous boards, and external governing bodies. I have worked as an inspector for the state in fire, health, sanitation and industrial safety. I have collaborated with county and city governments, economic development commissions, multimillion dollar corporations from Arizona, South Carolina, Tennessee, and from Barcelona, Spain to bring all, or a large percentage of their corporations to Kansas. My research skills have been utilized by the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County.

What skills, expertise, experience, or competencies qualify you for this position?
I bring 30 plus years of executive level experience in both the private and public sectors of operations. My educational background in Administration of Justice, Public Administration and Public Finance from Wichita State University, and President's College School of Law, all in Wichita, Kansas.
What do you perceive to be your city's greatest challenges over the next decade?
Literally, everything in municipal government operations will be a challenge in today’s economy, and it is not just limited to a decade. We must constantly be adapting and moving forward through positive change to prevent stagnation. A mayor must have a vision for the community directed at growing the cultural and educational opportunities, and meeting the expectations of every woman, man and child within the community. We must accept and take responsibility for investing in our youthful members of the community. The reasoning being that they represent the pool of our future leaders. Opportunities and expectations include additional necessities for the quality of life preferred by the citizens of the community.
