What makes you the best candidate for this position? What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you?
I have worked for over 25 years as an attorney,
lived in my district for 18 years, and have two
children, one at BVW and one at KU. I want to
use my career experience to give back to the
community that has given me and my family so much.
What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?
1) Supporting education, including properly
funding schools and fully funding special/gifted education;
2) Building a strong and healthy community by investing in evidence-based mental health and addiction services for both children and adults, ensuring public safety budgets are funded to protect our communities, expanding Medicaid to take advantage of all of the available federal dollars; and
3) Promoting growth through fair tax policy and
sensible regulation, which means stable, predictable taxes and regulations that allow individuals and business to plan for long term growth within our great state.
How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?
I will keep my constituents as updated as possible and answer any questions I can. "Gut and go" is antithetical to the democratic process and is a legislative fiction that should be abolished through legislation or changes to the rules.
Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?
No. I believe the mail-in ballot, early voting, and multiple voting locations on election day serve HD-28 well.
