Personal Biography
As a public school educator and proud parent of two young Braves, I’m deeply invested in providing all children a quality education. I believe all kids can learn and deserve to learn in an environment that fosters creativity and original thinking. Education is not some temporary season of our lives, it instills in us lifelong skills which follow us into both our professional and personal lives. This is why I want to be a part of helping shape a culture of education at USD 204.

What would be your top three priorities if elected?
1. I want to see wider, reciprocal, community engagement with our schools and students. Because these kids are our future doctors, mechanics, teachers, etc., we all have a reason to be invested in their education.
2. With the rapid rise of A.I. use in society, I want to make sure our district is taking common-sense steps to properly educate our youth about this new technology and not rushing to embrace it before first evaluating best practices for using it.
3. USD 204's test scores are slightly below the Kansas state's average. I have concrete ideas that have worked in other districts that could be implemented here to help improve our scores.
What skills, expertise, experience, or competencies qualify you for this position?
I am a public educator of 13 years and counting. More than that, I'm a core content teacher (English) who is also responsible for administering state testing and participates in district-wide curriculum development. I have worked in three districts in Kansas, each of which served very different communities, so I'm familiar with a range of different kinds of students, their unique challenges, and the solutions to ensuring their educational success.
In other words, I have a front-row seat to the daily obstacles our students and teachers face.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Accountability.
School Board members are accountable to the students, for providing them the best quality of education possible; to the teachers, for trusting their professional integrity and providing them with essential benefits and competitive salaries; and to the community, for demonstrating fiscal and social responsibility.
