Personal Biography Born and raised in Wyandotte County, I come from a family dedicated to service, my father proudly served as a KCKPD officer, and my mother cared for our community as a nurse. Following in their footsteps, I’ve always believed in giving back. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I joined the Board of Trustees at my alma mater to support the next generation of students. Today, as a father of three young boys, I’m passionate about building a community they can grow up in and be proud to call home.

What would be your top three priorities if elected?

1. Strengthen Community Representation Ensure the college truly reflects the needs of Wyandotte County by engaging with students, faculty, and residents to make decisions that serve the entire community. Focus on the COMMUNITY in community college.

2. Expand Educational Access and Opportunities Support programs, scholarships, and partnerships that open doors for underrepresented groups, improve career readiness, and help students succeed in both academics and the workforce.

3. Promote Financial Responsibility and Growth Advocate for smart budgeting, strategic planning, and investments in facilities, technology, and faculty to keep education affordable while building for the future.

What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you for this position?

As Chairman of the Board at Bishop Ward High School and President of Helping the Heartland Foundation, I bring proven leadership in education, community development, and strategic planning. A licensed attorney in Kansas and Missouri, I have extensive experience in governance, compliance, and risk management. I’ve led multimillion-dollar initiatives, including the $7.5M St. Joseph Campaign and the creation of the Cyclone Center for underserved students, while delivering major cost savings through strategic negotiations in healthcare and technology. A lifelong Wyandotte County resident and father of three, I am dedicated to expanding educational opportunities, ensuring financial accountability, and fostering collaboration to build a stronger future for our community.

How would you suggest the college address diversity issues for the most favorable outcomes?

Diversity and inclusion are central to the mission of a community college, especially in a place like Wyandotte County where the community itself is so diverse. I believe everyone should have a seat at the table, and the college should reflect the people it serves. To achieve this, the college can expand outreach and scholarships for underrepresented groups, recruit faculty and staff that reflect our community, and create programs and student organizations that celebrate different cultures and perspectives. Regular forums and advisory councils can also give students and community members a voice in shaping college policies and initiatives. Diversity should be more than a value we talk about, it should be built into how decisions are made.

Personal Biography Linda Hoskins Sutton is serving her second 4-year term as a Board of Trustee member. Linda retired from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2014 after 30 years of service. While an employee, she worked in the Business Office, Continuing Education & Community Services, Student Services and as Adjunct Faculty. Linda brings a unique perspective and knowledge having served on both sides. Linda is a native of Mississippi and has lived in Kansas City, Kansas for 45 years.
Education Associate in Business, Northwest Mississippi Community College; Bachelor of Science (Human Resources Management) Friends University; Masters Business Administration, Baker University School of Professional and Graduate Studies.
Community/Public Service I run various road races for charitable causes. Rotary Club. Friends of Yates 2025 Black Woman of Distinction Recipient, Black History Celebration; Wyandotte County Ethnic Festival 2025 Legend of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Recipient. Church Clerk at my church (a volunteer position).

What would be your top three priorities if elected?

1. Workforce Development Readiness

2. Collaboration to improve education in Wyandotte County from K-12 thru community college.

3. Wyandotte County first priority.

What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you for this position?

I'm serving my second 4-year term so I have experience as a KCKCC Board of Trustee member. As a KCKCC retiree, I understand the knowledge from the inside. I have served with Integrity, Accountability and Transparency and will continue to do so if I'm reelected.

I have the time, energy and knowledge to fully serve as a trustee.

How would you suggest the college address diversity issues for the most favorable outcomes?

Diversity (race,ethnicity, LGBTQ, religion) is near and dear to my heart because when I was an employee at Kansas City Kansas Community College, I saw the difference that it made with our students when they had a sense of belonging. It impacted their success in reaching their goals. We showed them that they mattered when we met each student where they were.
