I filed for this office because I believe the single most important thing our legislators can do is listen. Listen to their constituents. I am best qualified for this seat because I have made it my personal mission to listen to all the voices in my district. You can see it reflected in my platform. I want fully funded schools, lower property tax, high-quality healthcare and insurance that isn’t tied to your employer. I am the ONLY candidate recommended by the Kansas National Educators Association (KNEA), the largest teachers union in the state. Additionally, my team and I raised over $10,000 within a month of starting the campaign. Ultimately, I am the only candidate in the race with the platform, endorsements, and funds to win in November.

1.) Fully funding our public school system. For over a decade, the legislature has not met the constitutionally required funding levels set by the supreme court in the Gannon case. Furthermore, I believe that meeting the constitutional minimum funding levels isn’t the same as fully funding our schools.

2.) Right here in Johnson County, we have fixed income seniors being priced out of their homes by runaway property tax. I want property tax relief for our seniors who want to age with dignity in their homes.

3.) I believe that every Kansan should be able to purchase a high quality and affordable healthcare plan of their choosing, which isn't tied to their employer. To this end, I will support policies that expand Medicaid and Medicare.

I think public comment is an overlooked part of our legislative system - I would like to see “gut and go” fully banned from the state house. A simple solution would be to restart the public comment process any time a bill is amended. This will guarantee that the public always has a chance to express their concerns AND will ensure the legislature thinks long and hard about what bills and amendments they bring to the floor. With this process a “gut and go” bill would have to be defended in public committee hearings… defeating the entire purpose of the strategy. Public hearings also give time for the press to write about the bills in the legislature, and for citizens to organize in support of good bills or in opposition to bad bills.

I support changes that increase voter turnout in elections. For example, the three-day grace period for mail-in ballots, longer early voting periods, election day as a state holiday, and PTO for employees to cast their ballots. I support these changes because high turnout is a sign of a well-functioning democracy. Additionally, it's important that elected officials protect the voting systems that we already have in place. Our institutions are under attack nationally by the SAVE act, and by statewide candidates with plans to “chip away” at the right to vote. It is imperative that we have representatives like myself, who believe in our democratic republic and the value of citizens being heard at the ballot box.

I bring more than 16 years of experience working on political campaigns and advocating for issues that directly affect families. Through my work in community advocacy, I have championed better public transit, affordable housing, reproductive freedom, and voting rights. In addition, my background includes a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration, providing me with both practical political experience and a strong understanding of public policy. I am committed to listening to constituents, building coalitions, and working toward solutions that improve the lives of everyday Kansans.

Public Education: Kansas students deserve fully funded public schools. I support restoring full funding for special education and ensuring schools have the resources they need to educate every student. We should be investing in our schools, teachers, and students rather than shifting additional costs onto already-stretched districts.

Affordability: Too many Kansans are struggling with rising costs for healthcare, transportation, housing, and everyday necessities. I support expanding Medicaid to reduce healthcare costs, exploring ways to ease the burden on working families.

Voting Rights: A strong democracy depends on accessible elections. I oppose efforts that make it harder for eligible Kansans to vote.

Government works best when people can easily understand what their elected officials are doing. I support expanding access to bill information through plain-language summaries. As a legislator, I would also use my website and constituent newsletter to highlight important legislation and provide links to publicly available bill trackers and legislative resources so constituents can stay informed and engaged.

I believe the "gut and go" process should be subject to greater transparency. Any bill that is substantially rewritten should clearly identify what has changed, provide side-by-side comparisons of the original and amended language, and be subject to a meaningful public review period before final passage.

I support restoring the three- day grace period for mail ballots and ballot boxes. These measures work against people who live in rural areas and make it less convenient overall for people to vote.
