What makes you the best candidate for this position? What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you?

I am the strongest candidate because I bring a deep commitment to public service grounded in practical experience. My background includes working collaboratively across diverse groups, analyzing complex issues, and advocating for solutions that balance fiscal responsibility with long-term community benefit. These skills, as well as a track record of transparent, constituent-focused leadership, position me to effectively represent the priorities of voters as well as policies that improve life for all Kansans.

What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?

The top three priorities facing Kansas are funding public education, affordability challenges, and access to healthcare. Each requires disciplined budget prioritization to address effectively. Public schools are anchor institutions in our communities with proven long-term community benefits. We must fully commit to public education funding instead of prioritizing tax credit schemes for private institutions. Affordability means tackling property tax relief, supporting living wage policies, and reducing the financial pressures that make it difficult for hard-working Kansans. Finally, improving healthcare access, especially in rural areas, requires expanding coverage options so Kansans can receive timely, affordable care.

How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?

I would make it easier for Kansans to follow legislation by continuing the work I did last session: providing clear, plain language updates that explain what bills do, where they are in the process, and how they affect everyday life. I also believe the Gut and Go process should be ended entirely because it hides major policy changes from the public and undermines transparent, democratic lawmaking.

Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?

I would not support changes to Kansas election laws or voting systems that would further restrict voter access. Instead of restricting voting, I believe we should expand access through strong mail in and advance ballot voting, which are secure, well tested, and widely used. Protecting a reliable system while making it easier for eligible voters to participate only serves to strengthen our democracy.
