I am both passionate and knowledgeable about public health, economics/affordability, our education system, our workforce and labor policy, civil liberties and justice, and the health of our environment. I will enact policies to protect what is good and improve what is not with regard to each of these.

1) Healthcare is too expensive, many Kansans can't afford the care they need, and hospitals around the state are on the ropes. We need to accept the federal funds that are available to bolster our state by expanding our Medicaid program (KanCare). We also need to make healthcare a more attractive career choice for college-bound young adults, make Kansas an attractive place that offers good quality of life for professionals, and also work on improving the actual health of Kansans. By advancing healthy policy, we can reduce strain on our current system.

2) Housing is too expensive. Payments have grown, and the rising cost of housing has been a driver of overall inflation. Modestly sized homes are particularly scarce.

3) Fund education.

Kansans deserve ease and transparency when monitoring the ongoings of the legislature. There should be no restrictions on media coverage of legislative process, and there should be an app or similar digital access point for Kansans to see bills, which should be categorized/classified based on topics, and could be searched by filtering such topics in the app; Kansans could subscribe to notifications when bills with certain keywords or in certain categories were introduced or modified. Gut-and-go is terrible, and I'll try to stop this deceptive, sneak-attack legislative vehicle. There should be restrictions on what can be changed about a bill (none should be made to overall topic or intent). There should be waiting periods on change to bills.

Yes, with caveats.

I support: Changes that increase access and make voting easier, granted that the integrity of elections and confidence in their results can be maintained;

Changing the date of Primary elections to be held earlier;

Ranked Choice Voting;

Adopting the shortest-splitline or similar methods of redistricting; and

Joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

Each of these strengthens the role of democratic process in our government system.

I would strongly oppose changes that lend advantage to one party; that disempower any (group/class of) voters; that compromise trust in election outcomes; or any that otherwise weaken the democratic process or the accountability of elected officials to their constituents.
