Like many parents, I've spent the last several years focused on raising my family, supporting my kids, and building a career. But I've also watched decisions being made in Topeka that directly impact our community.

My family moved to Overland Park because of the Blue Valley School District. We believed in our public schools and the opportunities they provide for every child. Today, our schools are facing budget challenges that are leading to cuts in programs and staff that help students succeed.

I'm running because I believe our kids deserve strong public schools, our community deserves smart economic growth, and Kansas families deserve fair tax policies that invest in the things that make our state a great place to live.

- Education - our schools need to be fully funded, including Special Education. I will follow the law to ensure this happens. - Economic growth - investing in our schools brings educated families to the area. This keeps property values healthy and contributes to business growing and thriving. - Fair tax policies - we need to make sure our tax dollars are being used as intended and no breaks for data centers or other businesses are allowed.

Substantial changes are not needed. I would like to revisit the closing of early voting stations, though. Many of these locations had significant voter turnout and were well located. Without public input, the reasoning behind this is unknown.

A true commitment to serving Kansas based on decades of contributions to city, county, state, and educational programs. I originated the T-Link Calculator, an innovative tool used during the T-Works process to help Kansans visual the level of service they could receive based on the tax and fee contribution they were willing to make. I am a trained mediator and taught conflict resolution at the graduate level. I truly understand public safety. I served as professional standards officer in a small town enforcing police accountability. I received advanced training in school violence response. I served as a Government Finance Officers Ass'c budget reviewer. I taught finance at the graduate level. I teach an environmental planning class at KSU.

AI Data Centers and all economic development must be based on a balanced approach that does not give away our resources without just compensation and consideration for the community. SB 98 must be repealed. The Kansas Educational Formula should be evaluated and possibly changed. The weighting factors are critical to meeting a school district at the logical starting point based on factors that are beyond the control of the district. The CPI increase in the Base is good, but does not account for the actual cost of providing education. We cannot lose sight of our transportation program. We must constantly adjust our goals to permit the most reasonable opportunity for maintenance and growth, including accounting for reduction in the fuel tax.

It is incredibly frustrating to track bills that change their basic identification during the session. This is a form of three card monte. No one wins at three card monte, except the dealer. At this point, it makes more sense to petition for a Constitutional Amendment than tell the dealer to cut it out. It is equally frustration to rename bills with the same numbers as previous sessions. This is not the standard practice across the country.

My mother, who is in her 80s, is scared to death that she will be denied the right to vote. I've spent more time walking her through the changes to advance voting than I have talking about how my kids are doing in school (one is a teacher in a rural district seeking her masters at FHSU and the other is at KU in an education certification program). I will only support changes in election laws that enfranchise people, encourage voting, and facilitate a system that treats our citizens fairly. I served as the legal counsel during a Kansas election. I am proud of that service.
