Mark Weiser is a retired nurse with 35 years of healthcare experience, a military veteran, former Deputy Sheriff, ordained minister, and published author who is seeking election to the Kansas House of Representatives for District 76. A resident of Osage City, he has dedicated his life to serving others through healthcare, public safety, faith, and community involvement. Throughout my life, I have been committed to serving others and giving back to the community. I spent 35 years as a nurse caring for patients and families, served my country in the military, worked in public safety as a Deputy Sheriff, and continue to serve as an ordained minister. These experiences have taught me the importance of compassion, responsibility, and putting people first. I believe public service is about listening, helping others, and working to strengthen our communities so that future generations can thrive. My commitment has always been guided by the principle of service before self and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me.

My qualifications are rooted in a lifetime of service and leadership. I spent 35 years as a nurse, served in the military, worked as a Deputy Sheriff, and continue to serve as an ordained minister. These experiences have given me firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing Kansas families and rural communities. I also hold a Ph.D. in Theology and continue my studies in philosophy. I bring practical experience, a results-oriented leadership style, and a commitment to accountability. My goal is to listen to the people of District 76, represent them with integrity, and always put service before politics.
What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?
For an election questionnaire, a concise response could read:
Kansas faces three critical challenges: controlling property taxes, strengthening rural healthcare, and supporting agriculture and economic growth. I will work to increase transparency and accountability in government to help slow the growth of property taxes and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. I will support policies that improve access to healthcare in rural communities and help recruit and retain healthcare professionals. I will also advocate for farmers and rural businesses by promoting agriculture, expanding markets for Kansas products, and encouraging economic development that keeps jobs and opportunities in our communities.
How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?
A concise response suitable for an election questionnaire would be:
Kansas citizens deserve a transparent legislative process. I support creating a user-friendly online system that allows residents to easily track bills, receive updates, and understand how proposed legislation affects them. I also believe significant amendments to bills should be publicly available with adequate time for review before a final vote. The "Gut and Go" process should be limited to exceptional circumstances, with clear disclosure of changes and sufficient notice to legislators and the public to ensure accountability and restore confidence in state government.
Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?
Kansas's voter identification law helps strengthen confidence in elections by ensuring ballots are cast by registered voters and by promoting the integrity of the voting process. Kansas provides multiple forms of acceptable identification and free non-driver ID cards to help ensure access for eligible voters. I believe Kansas should consider returning to paper ballots with hand-count verification to provide an auditable record, increase transparency, and further strengthen public confidence in election results.
