I believe I am the best candidate for House District 14 because my entire career has been centered on serving people, solving problems, and bringing communities together. For more than 32 years, I worked as a school counselor, educator, and adjunct professor, helping students and families navigate some of the most difficult challenges of their lives. Those experiences taught me how to listen, collaborate, advocate, and find practical solutions, skills that are essential for effective leadership in the Kansas Legislature. My professional background gives me a unique perspective on the issues that matter most to the people of Olathe and Johnson County. I understand how policies affect families, schools, workers, and local communities.

As I am knocking on doors all over House District 14, Kansas families are telling me these are among their top three major challenges: rising costs of living, a growing mental health crisis, and the need to fully fund and strengthen public education. I will work to lower costs by supporting policies that help working families keep more of what they earn and attract quality jobs to Kansas. I will advocate for increased access to affordable mental health services, early intervention programs, and community-based care. Our farmers are struggling with costs and mental health issues. I will fight for stable, equitable school funding and ensure our schools can recruit and retain the teachers and staff our students deserve.

Our citizens deserve a legislative process that is transparent, accessible, and easy to follow. I would support improvements to the legislative website, including plain-language bill summaries, real-time updates, and alerts that allow residents to track issues important to them. I also believe committee hearings and bill materials should be posted with enough advance notice for meaningful public review and participation. The "Gut and Go" process should not be used as a routine legislative shortcut. This last legislative session worked around the people, not with them. When substantial changes are made to a bill, those changes should receive a public hearing and adequate time for legislators and citizens to review them before a final vote.

Kansas election laws are generally considered secure because they include multiple safeguards throughout the voting process. These safeguards include voter registration verification, voter ID requirements for in-person voting, signature verification for advance ballots, bipartisan election oversight, secure ballot handling procedures, and post-election audits in many jurisdictions. Kansas elections are administered primarily by county election officials, with oversight from the Kansas Secretary of State. While no election system is completely immune from mistakes or administrative challenges, there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud affecting election outcomes in Kansas. No changes are warranted at this time.
