What makes you the best candidate for this position? What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you?

I have fourteen years of service to the citizens of the 19th House district, and the experience that goes with it. I have served as both a Republican and a Democrat, and know how to work across the aisle. As a past member of the leadership team and Vice Chair of the Rules committee, I know how to navigate the complicated systems that make up the Kansas House proceedings, and know how to get results for my constituents.

What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?

Affordability, specifically regarding an imbalance in who pays taxes Protecting and fully funding public education Protecting and expanding voter rights (I can't believe I have to say this in 2026, but strongly opposing any push to so-called "household voting, e.g. the repeal of the 19th amendment).

How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?

As a member of the Minority Party, often the 'gut and go' process is the only way that we can get bills that have not had a hearing or a committee vote to the floor. I strongly believe in transparency surrounding the Gut and Go process, but without it, the minority has zero opportunity to have votes on issues that many member of the League of Women Voters care about.

Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?

Yes, I would. I would support a reinstatement of the 3-day grace period for mail-in ballots. I have also been the proud sponsor of Automatic Voter Registration, and a constitutional amendment to lower the voting age in Kansas to 16.
