What makes you the best candidate for this position? What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you?

My professional background and military deployments provide me with the depth of experience to be successful in the high-stress environment to the legislative session. My experiences in the House, particularly in the Social Services Budget and Health and Human Services Committee have placed me in a position to advocate for the most vulnerable Kansas citizens.

What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?

Property Tax reform (need to address the "spending side" of this problem.

"Aging Kansas"--Supporting the Health Care and personal care workforce, and all the homes that care for elderly Kansans. We are a net depopulation state, and the number of Kansans who will be over 65 by the years 2030, 2035, etc is staggering. Most people don't think about or understand the implications to the state in the next decade.

Education solutions for K-12. This will require different thinking as our rural areas continue to contract, and urban areas grow.

How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?

Changing the legislative process to eliminate the "gut and go" process will be problematic. Making sure anything included in a "gut and go" bill has been heard in at least one chamber is required. Tightening standards on the "single subject" necessary for a gut and go bill could help.

Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?

This is too broad of a question. I would ask "What Kansas election laws and voting systems need to changed, and "Why?"
