I am a life long Kansan who believes that together we can accomplish great things. A Kansas high school graduate, three professional degrees from Kansas universities, and a desire to promote Kansas education.

What makes you the best candidate for this position? What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you?
I believe that I can provide the best opportunities for my district. As an educator, I have developed strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, as a member of the negotiation team, I listen to multiple points of view, and make decisions once all information has been provided. I will also research a subject and ask questions to ensure that I have a complete understanding of the topic. These are some of the reasons that I am asked to serve on other district committees that discuss items like curriculum, behavior, and professional development. I have exemplary attendance, as I don't feel that I can be a competent voice for people if I'm not there to participate. I know that I will work hard for my district.
What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?
Education - the funding is not good. Not only is general education underfunded, special education funding is costing districts thousands of additional dollars to cover the State's failure to meet current needs. Teachers are professionals; we deserve to be treated as professionals, and not constantly have others questioning our abilities.
Property Taxes - a huge, and almost painful, part of land ownership. There needs to be an adjustment to how different properties are taxed, making it more equitable for all landowners. Certain groups should not have to bear the weight of unfair taxing to support others.
No Data Centers - Kansas cannot afford to put more strain on an already fragile resource.
How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?
Transparency for every step. This would need to include, if possible, the discussions held on the floor, as well as in the committees. Constituents deserve to know exactly what their representative is doing and saying during discussion. Constituents deserve to know if their representative is even in the chamber or room during discussion, or absent again. Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?
Do not mess with the Kansas Supreme Court.
I would recommend changes only if it is absolutely necessary and should never be done if it creates an unfair advantange for a side, group, or individual.
