What makes you the best candidate for this position? What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you?

As a third generation Kansan, I've spent the majority of my life in this district, and truly care about what the people think of their government. I listen much more than I speak. I try to give the kindest explanation of an intent or action, believing the best of everyone. But I have no patience for leaders who fail their citizens.

What are Kansas's three most important issues, and how do you intend to address them?

The property taxes fall too heavily on residential properties. We need to restrict carve-outs for big businesses to restore a fairer system. We must do more to support our talented veterans. Other states provide more attractive benefits, so Kansas loses most of the skilled workforce coming out of the military. We have a great VA support system in Wichita, but still too many too many of our heroes fall thru the cracks. Lastly, hyperscale data centers must be prevented from developing in our communities.

How would you make it easier for Kansas citizens to follow bills as they flow through the legislature? What, if any, changes would you propose in the “Gut and Go” process?

I abhor the Gut and Go process. It is difficult for even legislators to follow every bill. Perhaps the non-partisan legislative research department could be expanded a bit, and make available on the legislature's website a daily synopsis of what happened to any bill taken up.

Would you support changes to Kansas election laws and voting systems? Why?

I would allow citizens to vote on issues directly in citizen referendums. I'd make it easier to vote while maintaining the election integrity that we already have.
