The greatest challenge facing America is that too many people no longer believe their government works for them. Too often, they're right. Washington has spent decades putting corporate lobbyists and special interests ahead of working families. That's why healthcare, housing, and everyday costs keep rising while wages struggle to keep up. I'll fight to lower costs, protect Social Security and Medicare, strengthen public education, support Kansas agriculture, and take on the interests that have rigged our economy. Our elected leaders should answer to the people who sent them there, not the people who can afford to buy access. That's the fight I'm running to win.

Healthcare should never depend on your ZIP code, your job, or your bank account. I support universal healthcare because no Kansan should delay seeing a doctor, skip medication, or risk bankruptcy because they got sick. I'll fight for a public option as the path to universal coverage while lowering prescription drug costs, ending insurance company practices that put profits ahead of patients, investing in hospitals and the healthcare workforce, and protecting rural healthcare. In the richest country on Earth, quality healthcare isn't a privilege, it's a basic right.

America deserves an immigration system that is secure, lawful, and actually works. That means securing our borders, while working to fix our broken legal immigration system by adding more immigration judges so asylum claims are decided quickly and fairly, protecting Dreamers, and creating a pathway to legal status for people who have lived, worked, paid taxes, and contributed to our communities. Kansans deserve solutions, not politicians who use immigration to score political points while refusing to fix it.

My priority is building an economy that rewards work instead of wealth and political access. Too many Kansans are working full-time, raising families, farming, teaching, caring for others, and still falling behind while corporate profits climb. I’ll fight to lower healthcare and housing costs, protect Social Security and Medicare, strengthen unions, reform a credit system that punishes responsibility, and pursue trade policies that protect Kansas farmers and manufacturers instead of using them as collateral damage. For Kansas, this means keeping rural hospitals open, helping young people afford to stay and build a life here, protecting family farms, strengthening small businesses, and making sure a paycheck covers more than survival.

Every eligible American deserves the freedom to vote, and the confidence that every legal vote is counted accurately. We don't have to choose between election security and voting rights; we should have both. I support protecting early voting, vote-by-mail, and accessible polling places while investing in secure election technology, paper ballot backups, and strong audits. I oppose efforts to make it harder for eligible citizens to vote or to undermine confidence in legitimate election results. Our democracy is strongest when every eligible voter can participate and every lawful vote is counted.

The influence of money in politics is one of the biggest reasons Americans have lost faith in government. When billionaires, corporate PACs, and special interests can spend millions to influence elections, working families are too often pushed to the sidelines. I support overturning Citizens United, requiring full transparency for political spending, strengthening campaign finance laws, and banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks. Public office should never be for sale. The people who can write the biggest checks shouldn't have a louder voice than the people casting ballots. Democracy should belong to every American, not the highest bidder.

Protecting our communities and respecting the Second Amendment are not mutually exclusive. We can do both. I support universal background checks, closing dangerous loopholes, safe storage measures to keep guns out of the hands of children, and temporarily removing firearms from individuals who pose a clear danger with strong due process protections. We must also invest in mental healthcare, violence prevention, and law enforcement efforts to stop illegal gun trafficking. Kansans shouldn't have to choose between their constitutional rights and their family's safety. We owe them both.

We must remove the chaos-makers. While we want to have civility and policy change, there must be a recognition that extremists have used a "flood the zone" approach to create massive instability and distrust in government, and they will continue to do so until they are removed. To address this, we need to take a page from Watergate. We need professional and intentional Congressional oversight that pushes back against Executive Overreach, exposing the corruption and cover-ups, and ultimately removes the chaos-makers. As a seasoned federal prosecutor, I am the most qualified candidate for this critical task. We cannot get to policy change until we stabilize our democracy, and we need less platitudes and more competence.

We need to get to universal healthcare. The steps to get there begin with: 1) rescinding the OBBBA; 2) expanding Medicare/Medicaid to include our children and seniors; 3) reinstating the ACA subsidies to reduce costs for households; and 4) separating health insurance from employment, so insurance companies are forced to be competitive and transparent with individuals. To expand access, we must re-prioritize funding to rehabilitate our rural hospitals. We also need to create programmatic pipelines for healthcare professionals to go into our smaller communities - not only increasing telehealth, but adding targeted Pell grants and student-loan forgiveness for individuals going to serve in underserved communities.

We were close to bipartisan immigration reform, until it was undermined to create a political platform for Trump. His approach has been disastrous, cruel, and contrary to our melting-pot American values. While secure borders are important, we must create objective metrics and a transparent process that allow people to become productive Americans. We need to overhaul our administrative procedures, creating a system that connect immigrants/refugees with sponsoring businesses, sponsoring non-government organizations, and sponsoring communities. We need to provide an objective timeline and procedure for achieving citizenship and asylum, and we need to fund/realign immigration personnel for this task (the opposite of what we are doing now).

Our economy has been struck by wrecking balls of illegal tariffs and incoherent international conflicts. We must stop the current reign of chaos by removing the chaos-makers. Reasserting Congressional oversight over tariffs and foreign conflicts will help stabilize our relationships in foreign markets and reduce the input costs for our Kansas farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. As a matter of national security, we need to re-create a USAID-type program, demonstrating our strength by showing how well we can feed our allies rather than how quickly we can blow up schools. We need to rehabilitate our agricultural base with targeted subsidies, reform crop insurance to recognize climate change, and prioritize water conservation efforts.

I would like to see the Freedom to Vote Act passed. This proposal improves access to the ballot for all Americans, ends partisan redistricting, and improving campaign finance laws. It includes automatic voter registration, ensures 15 days of advance voting, creates federal minimum standards on vote by mail and drop boxes, and makes Election Day a public holiday. I also believe we should have publicly-funded elections, which flips the tables on money and partisanship in our elections. Instead of billions spent (wasted?) on campaigns, we could use technology, town-halls, and ranked-choice voting to let the most qualified candidates and best ideas rise to the top.

I fully endorse the notion of overturning Citizens' United, but the reality is that doing so would very likely require a constitutional amendment. That is unlikely in the extreme. In my view, the better approach is to work around Citizens' United, by adopting the Freedom to Vote Act or creating the means of publicly-funded elections. Aside from changing how our elections operate, we need re-evaluate the cost of unregulated social media, where disinformation and misinformation runs rampant and serves to radicalize young voters. This is made worse with unregulated AI. Congress needs to recognize the need to protect our privacy, our intellectual property, and require greater community safety standards from these providers.

Much like how we deal with cars and transportation infrastructure, firearm manufactures should be regulated for safety. As with cars, purchasers should submit applications to obtain firearm licenses, take safety education (and pass background checks), and be required to maintain insurance for the type of firearm. Requiring insurance will encourage lawful and safe gun ownership/usage. Additionally, the federal government does not meaningfully collect data on gun violence, and has not substantially funded such data collection or research. This is in part due to the Dickey Amendment, which should be repealed. We should be funding such data collection and research, by the CDC or NIH, and making the data available to the public.

While we face a number of significant challenges, the crisis of affordability and the lack of opportunity for economic advancement or upward mobility for young adults and young families is the most significant challenge facing our country.

The affordability crisis for young families can be addressed by providing universal healthcare and universal childcare and modifying the tax code to tax capital gains and wealth in a manner similar to labor. Modification of the tax code will help restore the middle class and lower mortgage rates.

The United States pays more than twice as much for health care than the next most expensive country. Despite this expense our health outcomes e.g., obesity, longevity, infant mortality, etc are atrocious. Medical bills are the most common cause of bankruptcy (65%) in the United States. Health equity and access for black and brown patients is less than for white patients. How we deliver health care in this country is immoral. Universal health care is the best way to address these failures and inequities.

Our immigration policy must serve our national interest. The militarization of ICE is not serving our national interest. Immigrants bring significant economic and cultural vitality to our country. That being said, it needs to mean something to be an American Citizen. Barbara Jordan , one of my political heroes best summarized my views on this subject. "Those that should get in, get in: those who should be kept out are kept out: and those that should not be here will be requested to leave".

I am reminded of Matthew 25 which states that how we treat strangers (immigrants) reflects how we treat Christ.

Our economic policies should facilitate buying a house, raising a family, and ensuring that our children have the same or greater opportunity than their parents i.e., the American dream. We need to make raising a family less expensive by providing universal health care and childcare. we need to make buying a home less expensive by getting our economic house in order via modification of the federal tax code.

The US economy thrives when we are a predictable partner in the global economic market. Entrepreneurs and businesses come to American because of our capital markets, our rule of la and our universities. All of these assets are under attack. We need to restore normalcy.

There has been an alarming march to limit free and fair elections in America. The recent Supreme Court gutting of the Voting Rights Act reversed 61 years of progress in gaining access to the ballot box, particularly in the South. Additionally, the SAVE Act establishes unconstitutional barriers to voting. The impact of both of these recent actions will disproportionally negatively impact black, brown and rural Americans.

The United States government should encourage voting by promoting voting by mail, early voting and by making election day national holiday.

"Big money" is a corrupting force to free and fair elections. The goals of election reform should be to diminish the influence of the wealthy and promote transparency. To accomplish these tasks we should eliminate dark money and corporate PAC donations, match small donors with federal funds, empower and reform the FEC, and limit foreign influence in elections.

A constitutional amendment to reverse the impact of Citizens United is a lofty but worthwhile goal.

There are approximately 400 million firearms in the United States. Gun violence is the leading cause of death in children less than 18. Common sense gun safety is long overdue.

Closure of the gun show loophole, a mandatory federal (universal) waiting period for gun purchases, repeal of the PLCAA to allow firearm manufacturers to be held liable when appropriate, an owner specific gun safety on recently manufactured firearms and the requirement of federal (universal) training to purchase an assault style weapon are a few steps that could be taken to protect Americans from gun violence.

The biggest challenge facing our country is making sure the economy works for everyone. Too many Kansas families are working hard but still struggle with the rising costs of groceries, housing, and healthcare, while Washington spends too much time on partisan politics.

We need to lower costs, support Kansas farmers and small businesses, strengthen American manufacturing, and invest in infrastructure and workforce development. We must also be responsible with taxpayer dollars by cutting waste and making smart investments that grow our economy. With my background in economics and business, I’ll focus on practical solutions that deliver results for Kansas.

Healthcare should be more affordable, more accessible, and focused on patients. After more than a decade of the Affordable Care Act, we have years of data showing what has worked and what has not. We should build on what is working, fix what is not, and focus on practical solutions instead of partisan debates.

That means lowering prescription drug costs, strengthening rural hospitals, expanding access to mental health services, and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy so providers can spend more time caring for patients. Every Kansan deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare.

America needs an immigration system that is secure, fair, and reflects our values. My mother grew up in Strawberry Hill in Wyandotte County as the daughter of Croatian immigrants and was a first-generation American. Her story is a reminder that immigrants have helped build Kansas communities and our economy.

We need comprehensive immigration reform that secures our borders, creates a fair legal immigration system, protects Dreamers, and keeps families together. Many Kansas industries, including agriculture, rely on immigrant workers who contribute to our economy. We should enforce our laws while treating people with dignity and respect. America can be both a nation of laws and a nation of opportunity.

My priority for the U.S. economy is creating an economy where working families, businesses, and communities can thrive. That means lowering costs, supporting small businesses, strengthening American manufacturing, investing in infrastructure, and preparing workers for the jobs of the future.

For Kansas, that means supporting the industries that drive our state, including agriculture, aviation, manufacturing, and small businesses. We need policies that help farmers compete, encourage entrepreneurship, and create good-paying jobs across the state. With my background in economics and business, I will focus on practical solutions that grow our economy and create opportunity for every Kansan.

Secure and accessible elections are essential to our democracy. We should protect the integrity of our elections by ensuring accurate voter rolls, strengthening cybersecurity, supporting election workers, and enforcing laws against fraud and interference.

At the same time, every eligible American should have the opportunity to make their voice heard. We should protect access to the ballot, ensure clear and consistent voting procedures, and make it easier for eligible voters to participate. Election security and voter access are not opposing goals. We can protect the integrity of our elections while ensuring every Kansan has a fair opportunity to cast their ballot.

Our democracy works best when voters, not wealthy special interests, have the strongest voice. We should increase transparency in campaign financing, require timely disclosure of political spending, and ensure voters know who is funding campaigns and influencing elections.

We also need to address the role of dark money in politics and strengthen accountability for those seeking to influence public policy. Campaigns should be about ideas, values, and earning the trust of voters, not about who can raise the most money or spend the most on advertising.

Every family deserves to feel safe in their community, and addressing gun violence requires both compassion and common sense. We can respect the rights of responsible gun owners while taking meaningful steps to prevent tragedies.

We should strengthen background checks, support responsible gun storage, invest in mental health services, and provide resources for communities working to prevent violence before it happens. We also need to support law enforcement and focus on keeping firearms out of the hands of people who pose a threat to themselves or others.

Reducing gun violence is not about politics. It is about protecting our children, our families, and our communities.

The high cost of living and the corruption that creates it. Everyday costs like groceries and electricity are out of control, and you can’t afford to go to the doctor when something hurts. Property taxes have exploded, and we don’t get much of anything in return.

The wealthy and well-connected have no problem getting what they want from our government; It’s time to make life more affordable for families who are already working hard. That means a tax cut for the middle class and closing loopholes that let the rich cheat the system and pay less in taxes than we do. We have to make it illegal for corporate CEOs to price-gouge consumers at the grocery store, and also stop reckless decisions like the war in Iran that increase fuel prices.

Every American should have access to healthcare they can afford, and I'm focused on the areas where we can move most quickly to get relief for Kansans right now:

- Reduce monthly costs by extending ACA tax credits

- Expand access to prescription price caps

- Reverse the Medicaid cuts to protect Kansas’s rural hospitals so people aren’t driving hundreds of miles to get emergency care

- Protect patients from surprise medical bills and aggressive debt collection

- Make insurance, pricing, and billing more clear and transparent

- Increase competition and transparency while cracking down on fraud and abuse

I believe immigrants are good for our state and that ICE is out of control. Too many politicians make it seem like you can't believe that and also believe in strong borders – but you can. We need to overhaul ICE from the ground up, fix our broken immigration system, protect DREAMers, provide a pathway to legal status for the people who play a vital role in our economy, and fund smart border security to keep out violent criminals. A Kansas that works for all of us means all of us.

The American Dream feels further out of reach each year. My top priority is tackling high costs for Kansans. Price-gouging corporations and the politicians they fund get away with whatever they want. Corporate profits are higher than ever, and we have our first trillionaire, all while kids are starving and families can barely keep up. It’s time to make life more affordable for Kansans who are already working hard by:

-Stopping reckless tariffs

-Tax cuts for middle and working-class Kansans

-Guaranteeing right to repair for farmers

-Breaking up utility monopolies to cut energy bills

-Keeping corporate landlords from buying homes and increasing housing costs

Defending Social Security and Medicare

Democracy without accessible voting isn’t a democracy. Protecting fundamental rights like voting should not be a partisan issue, and I will always stand for every eligible Kansan’s right to cast a ballot.

I will be a strong advocate for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act if elected to the U.S. Senate, especially in light of recent Supreme Court decisions and Department of Justice actions that undermine voting rights. We also must continue to defend the integrity of our elections from those who seek to sow distrust and perpetuate lies about cheating and stolen elections. Mail voting and ballot boxes help expand access to seniors, the disabled, and rural communities, and should be protected.

The influence of money in politics is one of the greatest threats to our democracy. We must end Citizens United to prevent corruption in our government that allows billionaires and special interests to dictate public policy. I believe in requiring more accountability and transparency from our elected officials as they make decisions that impact our lives and future generations.

I don’t trade stocks or own crypto, and I won’t take corporate PAC money. To unrig the system, we need to:

-Ban stock trading and first-class flights for Members of Congress

-Block government officials from using insider information to profit on prediction markets

-Push for term limits because our elected leaders won't bear the consequences of their actions

As a veteran and a hunter, the 2nd Amendment is deeply personal to me. It's part of our family and our heritage. As an Army infantry veteran, I’ve also seen what weapons in the wrong hands can do, and I’m just as worried about a school shooting as the next parent.

We need to keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals, domestic abusers, and terrorists, and make the laws we already have work better. I’m focused on the policies that can get passed and make a difference right away, such as expanding background checks, improving red flag laws to reduce the stigma so people actually use this critical safety tool, and making it easier and cheaper to purchase gun safes and other safe storage methods.
