1. What qualifications and experience do you bring to this office?

The city council is his legislative body, a body in charge of promulgating the laws of our city. As an attorney, I have to stay abreast of the changes in the law in order to put my clients in the best position possible. Additionally, I have the ability to read, interpret, and draft proposed laws if necessary. it is absolutely vital to have someone on city council who is trained in the law.

Additionally, I have previously served as the vice president of the Shelby County Young Democrat and Vice Chairman president of the black caucus of the young Democrats of America. My experience having served on elected boards will allow me to transition well to the City Council as I have experience with Robert Rules of Order, facilitating meetings, and most importantly being a consensus builder.

2. What do you see as the top two issues facing this office and how do you plan to address these issues?

There are several important issues facing the city council in the upcoming years. Narrowing the issues down to two would be incredibly difficult. However, two pressing issues facing the city council moving forward will be whether the city needs to get involved in public education and if so, to what extent. Notably, the state law does not require the city government to directly support public education. Another issue facing the city council going forward will likely be working to resolve the issue of the restoration of benefits for those who served this city

As a relates to the issue of education, I will push for the funding of public education through a third partner entity in a similar fashion in which the city has supported universal Pre-K.

As it relates to Restoration of benefits for those who serve the city, I would meet with my fellow council members/Mayor and make it a priority. If this is done, I'm sure a feasible solution will be worked out.

3. How do you plan to involve citizens in the decision making process of this office?

Simple. I would seek input from the community whenever making a decision that will have lasting impact.

1. What qualifications and experience do you bring to this office?

First licensed cosmetologist specializing in Natural Hair care to be appointed to cosmetology Board 2008 by Bredesen and 2012 by Haslam

2. What do you see as the top two issues facing this office and how do you plan to address these issues?

The top two issues facing this office are...

1) The limitations of the city council office as imposed by the charter is an issue. Many ideas and initiatives are limited and/or never see fruition due to the charter. The charter desperately needs amending. However, in the meantime, I plan to become a student and scholar of the charter, so I can understand what the options are rather than waist time on initiatives that are not feasible and/or legal.

2) Super Districts are confusing and have become obsolete. I explain the Super Districts everyday since I have been on the campaign trail. Most people that I encounter don't know that they have four council representatives. In 2010, the council approved a new redistricting plan to reflect recent demographic shifts, but the demographics have shifted since. Therefore, our current council district lines need to be redrawn to reflect single member districts. I am in support of returning to single member districts.

3. How do you plan to involve citizens in the decision making process of this office?

Stakeholder Input is a MUST

I plan on involving citizens first by staying connected and keeping the citizens informed via... Monthly e-newsletter, Quarterly it will be printed, Townhall meetings (w/Spanish interpreter and hearing impaired translator) and Social media Establish Citizens Council to receive feedback, and as I am a firm believer in stakeholder input
