The expectations for my roll as a city commissioner are to help make the most responsible decisions for the community. In order to do that I need input from both the City staff and the citizens of Eudora. As part of the commission we are responsible for the planing of future growth, infrastructure and policy. Also doing our best to make sure the current needs are met. In a situation where a current need cannot be fulfilled then it is our responsibility as a commission to get innovative and find a solution.

Policy is a key part of the leadership that is required for a city commissioner. Without having your own principles and direction there is no way effective lead the community to a better tomorrow, next month, next year, next decade and beyond. The policies we set now have last effect on the community. If they are not carefully thought out and clearly defined they will not have a positive impact on the future of our community.

As a City Commissioner my relationship with community is to listen to all vested parties and move the community in a direction that best fits the beliefs and needs of the community as a whole.

As a city commissioner in a community like ours advocacy is a key part of the position. Unfortunately a majority of our population is under informed of current issues at the local level. Continuing to promote the current initiatives to make sure the that anyone that wants too, has the ability to speak up and be heard.

To make policy decisions that will help Eudora grow sustainably and family friendly. To listen to the citizens who elect me and be a promoter of Eudora. To be actively involved in the community and interact with the citizens.

I believe that policy making is a huge part of my job. It is important that all policy changes or additions be thoroughly vetted to make sure the changes will improve the lives of Eudorians, and not be a burden.

My job as a commissioner is to be available to the citizens of Eudora. I believe that it is important to listen respectfully and work to be a problem solver.

I think my job is to be an advocate for all citizens in Eudora. I believe that no one group of residents should have more clout than another group. Children and seniors, and those in between, should all have equal access to resources that the city provides.

All commissioners should be able to listen to all members of the community in a professional, courteous manner. Commissioners should expect to attend all commission meetings and be available at outside events, in the city, as much as possible. Commissioners should be informed on the topics before the city. This includes all decisions on upcoming votes. Commissioners should allocate adequate time to explore solutions to city problems that may have been solved in other communities.

I’m an independent thinker who will listen and try to understand all problems that pertains to the City of Eudora. I am concerned about the future of the city infrastructure and the possible tax problems that I believe will occur if Commissions are only looking for short term answers.

Most importantly commissioners have to be available to the community. I believe I have that availability. I may not always agree with a community member or board member, but I do listen and that is the relationship I want to have.

Responsibility of Board members include being good advocates for the City. Being involved in civic events is important. Being positive is always a plus.
