I first moved with my parents to western Shawnee 20 years ago when they bought a new home in Hillcrest Farm. My parents still live there, in the same house. I moved to St. Louis for law school and the start of my career, but as my husband Nick and I talked about starting a family, we were drawn back to Kansas City. I was fortunate to be hired as an attorney at a local non-profit hospital and we now have a four year old son named Lucas.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in Women’s Studies from Knox College. I earned my law degree and Masters in Healthcare Administration from Saint Louis University and hold certifications in Healthcare Compliance and Risk Management.
I currently represent the City of Shawnee as a council member in Ward 3. I am the Social Committee chairperson of my neighborhood association. I also have the honor of serving as this year’s chairperson of the Holiday of Hope annual dinner benefiting the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. I previously volunteered as a volunteer tax preparer through the VITA program, an election judge in the City of Saint Louis, a volunteer after-school tutor with the Youth Technology Education Center, and as a Junior Achievement mentor/teacher.
