I’m running to be the change that Camden city education needs. I graduated June of this year, so I know firsthand the challenges our school district faces. I’m tired of speaking to deaf ears. I’ve had enough! I will be the change that I want to see in our district. I bring the expertise of knowing what can get students interested and invested and knowing how students think and also knowing what teachers need to ensure a high standard education.
My first 2 goals are equally important! Getting local control back to our school district and drastically increasing the reading and writing and math proficiency rates as well as the graduation rates.
We need to do a comparative analysis of student’s grades versus the state test scores to see if the percent of proficiency and percentage of students passing the class is similar. We should also do periodic mock tests to prepare the student for the questions on the test and make sure the students are proficient in the subjects.
First, students should feel comfortable, while ready to learn. We do this by having clear, stated rules and consequences and no- nonsense policies. We should also give the children a voice in discipline, mirroring the justice system. We need to insure that their our no distractions to the education process. School can be fun, but only if education is the main priority!!
The tops 3 issues facing the schools in this district are low proficiency and graduation rates, too little focus on the basics, woke agenda and failing leadership!!
