Through my ability to serve on the school board, I want to be sure that new policies reflect the needs of all students equally; that budgetary concerns are reviewed closely; and to ensure that safety within the school is always a priority. As a parent of a current L'Anse Area Schools student (and two previous graduates), as well as a long time member of this community, I frequently discuss topics of concern with other parents and family members of L'Anse students.
I formerly served as a L'Anse Area school board member in 2013-2014. For the last four years I have also been serving the community as a Girl Scout Troop leader for both L'Anse and the Keweenaw Bay Service Area. I have volunteered numerous times in the school system as a WatchDog parent, also as a parent chaperone on several field trip experiences, and in serving the school in the operation of the annual book fair during school hours. So I have devoted significant amounts of time to this community's youth and their families.
