I believe Bridgeport-Spaulding has several strengths of which we can be proud. First, our teachers and staff care about our students and work hard on their behalf. I have seen that firsthand during my many years on the Board. Second, we have a strong connection to our community. Our schools matter to the families and community we serve. Finally, I am proud that we continue to provide students opportunities to learn, grow and succeed, even when resources are limited. These are strengths worth protecting and building upon.
Hopevale Church (Can Do Crew, Lawn Care Team, Tech Team, Community Group Leader) - Mustard Seed Shelter (Volunteer Construction Site Supervisor - Lawn Care)
I bring nearly 30 years of experience serving on the Bridgeport-Spaulding Board, giving me a long-term understanding of our district, community and the responsibilities of a school board member. I also bring 43 years of experience in information technology and business leadership, where problem-solving, accountability, teamwork and managing complex issues were part of my daily work. I believe those experiences help me ask the right questions, understand difficult issues and make thoughtful decisions focused on our students, staff and community.
The most important challenges are improving student achievement, maintaining financial stability, and rebuilding trust within the Board and community. We need to set clear goals for student outcomes and hold ourselves accountable for progress. We must carefully steward district resources and make decisions based on long-term needs. Board members should work toward building consensus. Our focus must remain on students, staff and the community we serve.
I am running because I still believe in the importance of serving our students, staff and community. With nearly 30 years on the Board, I have a deep understanding of our district and the responsibilities that come with serving on a school board. I believe my experience, perspective and commitment to our community can continue to be of value. Most importantly, I want to help the Board work together, build consensus, and keep our focus where it belongs: on providing the best possible opportunities for our students.
