Saginaw has incredible opportunities with our people, our community assets, and our public spaces. Our parks and green spaces are gems, and must be maintained and open to full access.

We have a large youth population, which means that centers for education, skill building, and recreation would thrive here.

We also have a public water utility that provides clean treated water to over 200,000 customers.

All of these assets and opportunities require vision, investment, and care in order to be realized into points of prosperity. We have to work hard to be good stewards of our public assets, and govern effectively to capture all chances for growth.

For every hour I spend on Council, I spend 10 hours doing research, asking questions, connecting with community leaders and affected organizations. I've had a strong work ethic my whole life, but my educational and professional background have given me a strong grounding in critical analysis and strategic planning.

As a union steward and lead negotiator for a first contract, I am experienced in contractual analysis and fighting to make gains for workers.

With my work in policy advocacy, I have a deep knowledge of our government innerworkings and what resources are available for Saginaw through our state and national representatives.

From my history working with labor unions, I have networks in the development and employer spaces.
Saginaw struggles to maintain good governance practices. We're facing an uphill battle with a lack of revenue and historic disinvestment, but we have to lead with accountability and strategic vision to tackle our major issues.

Without that leadership, we miss out on funding and investment opportunities, and open ourselves up to exploitation and a negative feedback loop of decreasing services and worsening job conditions for our public employees.

Reading contracts, maintaining accountability, and centering economic development on the public good with robust community participation are productive and necessary for Saginaw to lead in the region in opportunity and growth.
I'm running for office because my community needs representation that is committed to fighting for them. I've accomplished several wins in my first year since being elected to this seat, but it's not enough. Saginaw government is much more transparent, accountable, and accessible than it was before my tenure. There is still so much more to do- implementing affordable housing policies, directing investment and development in a beneficial way for our vulnerable communities, and further defining our vision of hope for Saginaw.

One strength is the people who put time and effort into Saginaw. Through my work as a journalist for 15 years with MLive/The Saginaw News and community involvement, I’ve met residents who volunteer, support local businesses, organize events, and help their neighbors. Their contributions matter because city government needs residents who care and are willing to participate.

I also see strength in the different experiences and perspectives of our residents. Campaigning has taken me into neighborhoods I hadn’t spent much time in and introduced me to people I might never have met otherwise. Those conversations have helped me understand the city better. We can make better decisions when more of those voices are included.

Past member of: First Ward Community Services, Public Libraries of Saginaw, East Side Soup Kitchen, Saginaw Area Fireworks.
I spent about 15 years as a journalist, asking questions, researching issues, and explaining decisions that affected people’s lives. That experience taught me to listen carefully, check the facts, and follow up when an answer wasn’t clear. Those skills would help me evaluate proposals, ask questions about city spending, and explain council decisions to residents.

My communications work with Saginaw Public Schools gave me experience working within a public institution and helping families understand its programs and decisions. I know how much clear, timely information matters, especially when people have concerns or questions.

I also bring leadership experience through my church and community involvement, including service on the Community
One of the biggest challenges is making sure residents understand what city government is doing and have a chance to be heard before decisions are made. I would push for clear, timely information about spending, projects, and proposals, written in language people can understand. Residents should be able to find out what is happening, who is responsible, and how to ask questions without having to sort through rumors on social media.

Another challenge is making sure we hear from people who don’t regularly attend council meetings. Knocking on doors has reminded me how much we miss when we only talk to people already involved. I would continue having conversations in neighborhoods, make myself available to residents, and follow up on the conce
I’m running because I care about Saginaw and want to take a more direct role in the decisions that affect our city. As a journalist, I spent years listening to people, asking questions, and helping residents understand what was happening in their community. I want to bring that experience to city council.

My priorities are transparency, being a voice for residents, and supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs. People should be able to understand how their money is being spent, get answers to their questions, and know their concerns are being considered. I also want people who are starting or growing a business here to have clear information and a city government willing to help them work through the process.

1. Our People and Community Spirit One of Saginaw's greatest strengths is its people. Our residents are resilient, hardworking, and committed to seeing our community succeed. That sense of community is something we should be proud of and built upon.

2. Our Strong Community Organizations and Partnerships Saginaw has a strong network of organizations, churches, schools, businesses, and community groups working to support residents.

3. Our Potential for Growth and Revitalization Saginaw has tremendous potential for economic growth and neighborhood revitalization. I believe our city can attract new investment, while giving an opportunity that reaches every side of Saginaw, - North, South, East, and West
I have remained actively involved in the,Fairground Neighborhood Association as the Treasurer/Director, where I have been involved in neighborhood engagement and efforts to strengthen and advocate for the Fairground community. Messiah Missionary Baptist Church Chairman of the Board of Trustees, a leadership position involving responsibility for church governance, stewardship, and supporting the organization's operations and mission. NAACP Active member supporting the organization's commitment to civil rights, equality, and community advocacy. These experiences have given me an opportunity to serve in different capacities as a neighborhood advocate, organizational leader, and community volunteer.
I bring extensive experience in public service, community leadership, education, and organizational governance. As a former Saginaw County Planning Commissioner, I gained direct experience with public-sector decision-making, planning, policy, and accountability. As Treasurer/Director of the Fairground Neighborhood Association, I advocate for neighborhood needs and community improvement. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, I provide leadership in governance, stewardship, oversight, and responsible decision-making. My work as a Behavior Interventionist has strengthened my ability to address complex challenges, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and advocate for youth and families. I am prepared.
One of the most important challenges facing Saginaw is ensuring fairness, equality, and equitable investment across the North, South, East, and West sides of our city. Every resident deserves equal access to public safety, quality infrastructure, city services, economic opportunities, and a voice in local government. I would address this by listening directly to residents, identifying the unique needs of each neighborhood, promoting transparency and accountability, and working with the entire City Council to make decisions based on community needs. No neighborhood should feel overlooked, forgotten, or less important because of where it is located. Every side matters, every resident matters, and every part of Saginaw deserves an opportunity.
I am running for Saginaw City Council because I believe public service is about serving the people, not serving oneself. I want to be an honest, accessible voice for every resident of Saginaw. I will listen to our residents, advocate for our neighborhoods, and work with the entire City Council to find practical solutions to the challenges facing our city. I believe in fairness, equality, accountability, and ensuring the North, South, East, and West sides receive the attention, investment, respect, and opportunities they deserve. I am not running to be above the people, I am running to stand with the people. With faith as my foundation and service as my commitment, I am asking for your support and your vote.
