Campaign Message
As a Mother of three children in our district, I have a unique perspective on education. I have two in general education and one in a self-contained special education program. Because of this,I understand firsthand that every child learns differently, and I understand the strengths, challenges, needs, and the importance of both general education and special education. I also understand we have to support our teachers and the staff. Our teachers are one of our district's greatest assets. They deserve support and to be heard.
As a mother of three children in the district two in general education and one in self-contained special education I have firsthand experience with different parts of our school system. I believe this perspective would allow me to listen to and advocate for all students' needs while working collaboratively with our educators, families, administration, and fellow board members. I would bring a combination of parent perspective, community involvement, and hands-on experience advocating for students and families. For the past three years, I have served as Linden’s Parent Advisory Committee representative, a position voted on by our school board.
Being involved through PAC gave me an opportunity to see both the strengths of our district and areas where we can continue to improve.I want to bring a parent’s perspective to the board and be someone who listens to families, students, teachers, and staff. I believe good school governance requires being present, asking questions, listening to different perspectives, and keeping students at the center of every decision. My children will be students in the district throughout the entire six-year term, the decisions made by the board will directly affect my own family as well as the broader school community. That gives me a very personal investment.
My priorities are student achievement, school safety, transparency, supporting our teachers and staff, and making sure all students have the opportunity to succeed.I would work to understand the data behind our district’s academic performance, listen to educators about what they need in the classroom, and make sure resources are being used responsibly and effectively. I also believe transparency and communication are essential to building trust between the school district and the community. I would approach these priorities by asking informed questions, reviewing the information available to the board, listening to the community, and working collaboratively toward practical solutions.
I believe school boards will continue to face the challenge of balancing increasing needs with limited resources while maintaining strong academic outcomes and supporting the people who make our schools successful. Districts also have to navigate changing educational needs, staffing challenges, school safety, special education services, technology, and the expectations of families and the community.
I am not running because I believe I have all the answers. I am running because I am willing to listen, learn, ask questions, and work hard for our students and community. My background has taught me the value of perseverance, hard work, and advocating for yourself and others. I chose a career in the trades and I believe that perspective is valuable in a school district that serves students with many different goals, abilities, and paths after graduation.I am also someone who believes that you do not have to have the same background as everyone else to bring something valuable to the table. I will bring the perspective of a parent, an advocate, a community member, and someone who is directly involved in our district. Putting students first!
