As a nurse by profession, I understand the importance of being the voice for our most vulnerable. My knowledge and experience in this profession will only help guide me in doing the same for our students and members of this wonderful community
Having lived in Fenton for the last 40 years, I have seen a lot of change. As a Fenton graduate myself, I am raising our families third generation of Tigers. My inspiration is and has always been the children in this community. My goal is to help Fenton remain the great school district I have come to know and love.
Safety should remain top priority. With that in mind, all children should feel safe while seeking education and teachers should feel safe while doing their job. As a board member, I will work hard to ensure accountability is enforced both behaviorally and academically. Our teachers and administrators need support to do their job. I will advocate for educators to get the support they need to effectively do their jobs. I will push to eliminate the duties outside of their scope of practice. Fenton is seeing many new and overdue upgrades. As a board member I will ensure that current and future bond projects are done properly with the students, community, and financial responsibility in mind.
I see rebuilding trust in the public school system and academic recovery being a few of the greatest challenges school boards and districts will face.
I am married to my high school sweetheart. When we decided to plant our roots, we knew we wanted our children to grow up in this great community. Please consider voting for this former Fenton Tiger! #Homegrown

Education
I earned a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University and my medical degree from Michigan State University. I completed my residency in Emergency Medicine at Sparrow Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Detroit. During my service on the Fenton Board of Education, I have continued my professional development by earning both Level 1 and Level 2 certifications from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Experience
I currently serve on the Fenton Area Public Schools Board of Education after being appointed in October 2025 to fill a vacancy. I also serve on multiple nonprofit boards, providing additional experience in governance, collaboration, and organizational leadership. Professionally, I am an emergency physician practicing in a busy emergency department in Flint, where I make complex, data-informed decisions, work collaboratively, and remain composed under pressure.
Community Involvement
I am an active member of the Fenton Kiwanis Club, volunteering to support local children and families. I also volunteer with the PTO at my children’s school, assisting with events and activities that strengthen our school community. Additionally, I have taught Fenton students CPR and AED skills, drawing on my medical experience to promote safety and emergency preparedness.

As a current Board of Education member, I have firsthand experience with school governance, policy, budgeting, strategic planning, and district operations. Since my appointment in October 2025, I have earned Level 1 and 2 certifications from the Michigan Association of School Boards. My service on nonprofit boards has further strengthened my governance and leadership skills. As an emergency physician , I analyze complex information, make data-informed decisions, collaborate with diverse teams, and remain composed under pressure. As a district parent and community volunteer, I bring preparation, critical thinking, and a commitment to keeping students at the center of decisions.
As a parent of students in Fenton Area Public Schools, I was inspired to serve because I want every student to have excellent educational opportunities and a clear path to success. When a vacancy arose, I recognized both the district’s strengths and its challenges and felt a responsibility to step forward and help. My career in emergency medicine, education, and public service has taught me the importance of preparation, collaboration, and evidence-based decisions. Since my appointment, listening to students, families, and staff has strengthened my commitment to this work.
Fenton has demonstrated strong academic performance, but continuous improvement must remain a priority. I will support measurable goals, data-informed decisions, and the resources teachers and students need to succeed. Because student achievement depends on outstanding educators and support staff, I will promote a culture where employees feel valued, advocate for competitive compensation, and support professional growth. As birth rates, living costs, and demographic trends affect enrollment, we must attract and retain families by sustaining excellence in academics, athletics, extracurricular programs, services, and facilities while clearly communicating the value Fenton schools provide.
School districts will face declining enrollment caused by lower birth rates, rising living costs, and changing demographics. Districts must also manage growing expectations and unfunded or underfunded mandates without always receiving adequate resources for the services they provide. Another challenge will be balancing the benefits of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, with responsible, age- and developmentally appropriate implementation. Addressing these issues will require careful budgeting, clear policies, staff training, community engagement, and a continued focus on student learning, safety, and well-being.
I understand that effective board service is about governance, not personal agendas or day-to-day management. A board member must responsibly steward taxpayer dollars, set clear expectations, evaluate results, and hold district leadership accountable while respecting the expertise of educators. I value transparency and will clearly communicate the reasoning behind difficult decisions. I also believe success looks different for every student, and our schools should provide strong pathways to college, skilled trades, military service, and the workforce. I will approach each issue with curiosity, independence, and respect, seeking common ground without avoiding difficult questions.
