Campaign Message
I believe that even though the Bendle district is small our kids are capable of doing great things. The Bendle community has always supported my family, and I look forward to giving my time, talents and resources to help our community grow.
I have extensive experience in working in Nonprofits having spent the bulk of my career working at Sloan Museum of Discovery and Longway Planetarium.
As a parent of two special needs children I also value education and those providing it, having worked extensively with both educators and support staff.
I have also been serving on the board for the last two years and have learned a great deal through classes offered by the Michigan School Board Association. I currently hold a Level 1 certification. I am also a graduate of the district and have a child currently enrolled, so I bring an understanding of what these kids are going through in their daily lives.
I was inspired to run for school board because I am by nature a helper. My community has given so much to me and my family and I am always looking for ways to give back. After my family faced tragedy the out pouring of help cemented my dedication to this community. I was already involved with the district through the band program so it was a natural fit to take on a leadership role.
My top priorities for the district is to continue to aid our students with gaining the knowledge and tools they need to be successful in life. I also believe that we have to present them with the various paths that they can take to achieve success. As a school board member I will achieve this by helping the Superintendent guide the district in that direction.
I think one of the biggest challenges is funding. As birth rates continue to decline and the number of options for schooling increase, it is our responsibility to provide a place that provides a well rounded education for all students. To help combat funding shortages I will continue to use my fundraising skills and unique talents to help provide resources for our kids.
I believe in community and have been fortunate enough to be a part of this community since I was 11 years old. I have worked to give back in a variety of ways including running the concession stand for football games, aided with field days at the elementary schools and helped several former students get jobs. I am proud to be a part of this community and hope to continue to give back for years to come.
