Experience
My experience is rooted in serving people and connecting them with resources and opportunities. I have worked in workforce development and case management, helping young adults and job seekers overcome barriers, find employment, access community resources, and develop plans for long-term success. I have also worked as a legal assistant, giving me experience with documentation, deadlines, confidentiality, and communication. My professional and community experience has strengthened my skills in problem-solving, conflict resolution, relationship-building, and working with people from different backgrounds. I want to bring those skills to City Council and put them to work for Flint residents.
Community Involvement
I have been involved with Civic Flint, NAACP–Flint, Mott Student Life, and the Black Student Union, along with community cleanups, neighborhood outreach, youth programs, voter engagement, and community events. My professional work has also allowed me to serve young adults through workforce development and violence-prevention programming. To me, community involvement means showing up, listening, serving, and building partnerships that help people move forward.
Campaign Message
“No parties. No games. Just the people.” My campaign is about WE the people, not ME the people. I believe Flint moves forward when we work together, hold government accountable, and make sure residents have a voice. My focus is safer neighborhoods, better infrastructure, clean water, reducing blight, creating opportunities, and building a stronger Flint together.
Endorsements
I am grateful to have received support and endorsements from community members, faith leaders, local business owners, and professionals who believe in my commitment to serving the people of Flint. My campaign is built around bringing different voices together because I believe leadership is about WE the people, not ME the people.
I bring a willingness to listen, learn, communicate, and work with people from different backgrounds. I am a father, business owner, community advocate, Mott Community College honors graduate, and University of Michigan-Flint student. My experiences have taught me accountability, problem-solving, and the importance of meeting people where they are. I don't believe leadership means having all the answers. It means being willing to listen to residents, ask the right questions, build partnerships, and do the work necessary to find solutions.
My priorities are safer neighborhoods, stronger infrastructure, clean and reliable water, reducing blight, creating opportunities for our youth, and supporting economic growth that benefits Flint residents. I want to strengthen relationships between residents and city government while making sure city departments are accountable for the services taxpayers depend on. I also want to build partnerships with businesses, community organizations, schools, trades, and residents to create opportunities and address problems before they become crises.
I believe representation starts with being accessible. I plan to communicate through neighborhood meetings, social media, phone calls, email, community events, and most importantly, being physically present in the ward. I want residents to know who their councilperson is and feel comfortable reaching out. I will listen even when we disagree, provide updates on issues affecting the ward, and take residents' concerns to City Hall. It is "WE the people," not "ME the people."
Yes. Public office is a public trust. Elected officials should be held to clear ethical standards regarding their conduct, conflicts of interest, transparency, and responsibility with taxpayer dollars. An ethics agreement establishes expectations and gives residents a standard by which their representatives can be held accountable. I believe elected officials should lead by example and remember that the position belongs to the people, not the person holding the seat.
I want voters to know that I am not running because I believe I am perfect or have every answer. I am running because I care about Flint and believe our residents deserve leadership that listens, shows up, communicates, and works with people. I have spent time serving, attending community events, listening to residents, building relationships, and learning from people throughout our city. I believe progress happens when we stop operating in silos and start working together. I want to help open doors, build partnerships, and make sure residents have a voice in the decisions that affect them. No parties. No games. Just the people.
Experience
I currently serve as President of the Flint City Council, where I have served for three years. During my tenure, I have maintained the Council’s highest attendance record and introduced more ordinances and resolutions than any other Council member. Previously, I served as the City of Flint’s Public Information Officer, gaining experience in municipal operations, public communications, and community engagement. I also served as a Policy Aide in the Michigan House of Representatives, developing experience in legislative policy, constituent services, and state government. My experience across local and state government has prepared me to effectively serve and advocate for my community.
Campaign Message
Proven leadership. Proven results. I believe leadership is about more than making promises. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and delivering results for the people you serve. My record reflects that commitment: being present, taking action, and getting things done.

I bring the ability to turn ideas into action and lead through challenging issues. As Council President, I brought Council members together to pass the city budget on time, a milestone not achieved in years. I understand both the legislative and administrative sides of government, allowing me to identify problems, develop practical solutions, and navigate the process to get results. I am prepared, persistent, accessible, and accountable, with a strong understanding of policy and constituent service. My experience has taught me how to build consensus while staying focused on delivering meaningful results for Flint residents.
My priority will be continuing the work of building safe, reliable, and attractive infrastructure throughout Flint. I have advocated for what has been the most robust road paving schedule in Flint’s history, including getting neighborhood streets paved that had gone more than 30 years without resurfacing. In the 7th Ward, I have advocated for the largest number of sidewalks repaired at one time in the ward’s history. I will continue pushing for sustained investment in roads, sidewalks, neighborhoods, and other critical infrastructure, while ensuring residents see tangible improvements in the places they live, work, and raise their families.
I believe effective representation requires being accessible, present, and willing to listen. I regularly send email communications to constituents about Council votes, important city issues, and community activities. During the spring, summer, and fall, I personally go door to door throughout the ward, delivering information and connecting residents with resources. I also attend every neighborhood association meeting, where I provide updates on my work, listen to residents’ concerns, and work directly with them on local ordinances and neighborhood issues. I will continue maintaining this hands on approach so residents are informed, heard, and directly involved in the decisions affecting them.
Yes. I believe elected officials should be required to take an oath to abide by a formal ethics agreement because public office is a public trust. I take seriously the Constitution’s principle of a government “of the people, by the people, for the people,” and believe elected officials have a responsibility to serve the public interest above personal interests. From the beginning of my service, I have disclosed any potential conflicts of interest and held myself to a personal code of ethics. A formal ethics agreement creates a clear standard of conduct, strengthens accountability, protects public resources, and gives residents confidence that decisions are being made honestly, transparently, and in their best interest.
I want voters to know that I have walked my talk every day I have been in office. I have shown up when called, listened to my constituents, and consulted with residents about what matters most to them. I have never viewed this as Candice’s seat. It is the 7th Ward’s seat, and I have the privilege of representing every person who calls our ward home. I view every resident as my neighbor and every neighborhood as deserving of my full commitment. We deserve representation that knows the work, understands government, shows up, does the work, is not divisive when speaking of work to be done in our ward, and delivers tangible results. I do not take this responsibility for granted.
