My qualifications for serving on the Lansing Community College Board combine leadership, financial expertise, governance experience, and a lifelong commitment to education and community impact. As a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, I understand the transformative power of education and the importance of creating pathways for lifelong learning. Professionally, I have spent more than 20 years leading a growing nonprofit organization, managing complex operations, budgets, workforce development, and strategic partnerships. My background in banking provides strong expertise in fiscal oversight and accountability. In addition, my service on numerous boards, including healthcare, economic development, and community organizations, has strengthened my ability to govern effectively, build consensus, and advance long-term institutional success. I bring a student-centered perspective focused on access, achievement, workforce readiness, and community impact.
Community colleges play a vital role in expanding opportunity and strengthening communities. They provide accessible, affordable, high-quality education for students pursuing degrees, workforce credentials, university transfer, or career advancement.

I believe community colleges are uniquely positioned to support the whole student. Through mentorship, advising, academic support, and connections to essential resources, they help students overcome barriers and reach graduation. This student-centered approach creates opportunities for learners from all backgrounds to succeed.

Community colleges also serve as economic engines by partnering with employers to prepare a skilled workforce that meets current and future industry needs. By aligning programs with workforce demands, they help graduates secure meaningful careers while supporting regional growth.

Most importantly, community colleges transform lives by opening doors to education, opportunity, and economic mobility.
My vision for Lansing Community College is to expand opportunity by increasing the college’s visibility throughout our community, ensuring more residents understand the educational, workforce, and career pathways available to them. I believe LCC should continue to be a leader in innovation by adapting programs to meet evolving student and employer needs while embracing new approaches to learning and engagement. Most importantly, I am committed to increasing student success through strong support systems, mentorship, academic achievement, and workforce connections that help students persist to graduation and transition into meaningful careers that strengthen our region’s economy and future.
