HENDERSON COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT SUPERVISOR {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

The non-paid board of supervisors meets monthly to establish local soil and water conservation priorities based on the needs of the district. The Board chairs work groups to address these priorities through the installation and implementation of best management practices that protect and improve the natural resources within the district. The work is accomplished by partnering with local, state and federal agencies; businesses; and non-profit organizations for technical and financial assistance. The Division of Soil and Water Conservation administers ACSP, AgWRAP and CCAP, and holds each local board of supervisors accountable to these state programs.Each district is governed by a five-member board of supervisors. Three supervisors are elected on the general ballot as non-partisan candidates during the regular election of county officers, and two are appointed by the NC Soil and Water Conservation Commission upon recommendation of the local district board of supervisors.

About 40 years as a horticulturist, army corp of engineers doing hydrographic work, hold and held pesticide, irrigation, contractors, segmented walls, bio ponds and more license and certifications. Have worked in the soil and science field and have worked all over the state so I have knowledge and experience in the different environments and soils
Many wells have been contaminated over the years and runoff and soil movement has continued. To work with agriculture and home owners as well as businesses to create a safer way of using chemicals and to prevent as little runoff as possible along with training workers and homeowners about such issues. How to eliminate some soil movement within the property
Honestly I have not seen any public information out there or seen where the department has sent anything to individuals as well as some businesses. Need to be more effective in communicating with the general population and inform them as well as get their input more often
Just want to help make businesses, farmers and homeowners aware of all the potential problems that are occurring and ways to positively reduce some of the contamination of soil and water. By provide information to the public as well as listening to their ideas to help create a safe more workable and livable environment
