As the state director for a nonpartisan nonprofit, I have hired and managed staff, built partnerships across party lines, and delivered results. My work in constituent services taught me to listen first and act on what I hear. Serving as a Catawba County Grand Juror for a year helped me understand the issues plaguing our community, often behind closed doors. I understand the challenges facing working families, small businesses, and local schools because I live them too. I will bring that same practical, collaborative approach to the North Carolina State House, focused on results over rhetoric and accountable to the people I serve.
My top priority is affordability. Too many North Carolina families are working hard and still falling behind as housing, healthcare, groceries, childcare, and utility costs keep climbing. If elected, I will focus on practical steps that put money back in people's pockets: expanding access to affordable housing options, supporting lower prescription drug and healthcare costs, protecting families from unfair fees and rate hikes, and backing childcare and job training so parents can work and get ahead. I will also fight for responsible budgeting so tax dollars are spent wisely and reach the families living in District 96. I will hold regular town halls and report back on results.
Public schools are the foundation of North Carolina's economy and our children's future, and the General Assembly has a constitutional duty to fund them. In the coming year, I will fight to fully fund public schools, including competitive pay for teachers and support staff, safe and modern facilities, and smaller class sizes. I oppose school vouchers because they divert taxpayer dollars from the schools that serve the vast majority of our children. Those dollars should strengthen classrooms, early literacy, and career and technical education in District 96. I will also push for transparency in how education dollars are spent, so funding reaches classrooms and families can see results.
Tax policy should be fair, predictable, and pro-growth. North Carolina thrives when it keeps a competitive climate for small businesses and employers while investing tax dollars wisely in what makes communities strong: schools, roads, broadband, public safety, and workforce training. I support responsible budgeting, transparency in how revenue is spent, and relief that reaches working families and small businesses. Every tax decision should be measured by a simple test: does it create opportunity and deliver real value to residents?
Safe communities start with prevention and with supporting those who protect us. I would promote: fully funding and training community resource officers, with recruitment and retention support; expanding mental health, substance-use treatment, and crisis response; strengthening penalties for fentanyl trafficking and violent repeat offenders; improving school safety and youth programs; and stronger protections for victims of domestic violence. Public trust and accountability make everyone safer.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my views. I am running because my neighbors deserve a representative who will listen and act in their best interest. I believe good government is local, honest, and responsive. I will listen to residents of every background and political view, be transparent about my votes, and work with anyone willing to solve problems. I would be honored to earn your support.
