I have lived, volunteered, raised a family, been a caregiver, and owned businesses in this district for almost 25 years. For a decade, I was senior managing editor of a national health care magazine I founded in Winston-Salem. Service on the PTA, Community for Public Schools, Chamber of Commerce, historic preservation boards, and more proves that we can DO.MORE.GOOD. by putting COMMUNITY first.

Our campaign earned almost 49% of the vote in this race in 2024, and I'm proud that half came from across party lines because folks here know me and my commitment to serving all families.
My most important priority is strengthening our public schools so every child has the opportunity to succeed. That means competitive pay for teachers and staff, the resources students need, and the support for the people doing this work every day. Strong public schools are essential to our children’s futures, our economy and our communities. I will stand up for every child and every family in this district.
We must fully fund public education, restore master’s degree pay, and pay teachers/staff competitive wages to recruit and retain the BEST for our kids. For the last 15 years, NC has failed students by cutting funding, while expecting teachers to do more with less. NC is now at the bottom nationally for per-pupil funding. These cuts also strain local resources as school systems must plead to counties for assistance.

Private school vouchers have run unchecked for years now and have become welfare for the wealthy. Private schools must be accountable, use income limits, and demonstrate an ROI for the billions of taxpayer dollars used to bankroll them —such as hiring certified teachers and using standardized tests -- to qualify for any funding.
Tax policy should support a strong economy while ensuring we can fund schools, infrastructure, and the services families rely on. Working families should not be left carrying more of the burden while wealthy households and corporations receive tax cuts. Businesses benefit from our roads, schools, and public services and should contribute fairly to maintaining them. We need thoughtful tax reform that considers both affordability and community needs, rather than constitutional amendments that limit our ability to respond.
Community safety includes protecting the clean water and air our families depend on. I would support stronger protections for those resources and restore local authority over decisions affecting community safety, development, and the environment. Residents and local officials should have a meaningful say in projects such as data centers that affect their neighborhoods and infrastructure. Our current representative has supported shifting more control to Raleigh through legislation or constitutional amendments. I believe the people who live here deserve a stronger voice.
I’ve knocked on thousands of doors this year, and folks have told me they are tired of doing more with less, and are sick of worrying about healthcare and our public schools. Many are also concerned about the anger and corruption in politics. It’s time for new leadership. I will put families before Duke Energy profits, and our community before partisanship, because everyone here deserves better.
