NC DISTRICT COURT JUDGE DISTRICT 21 SEAT 03
The NC District Court hears civil cases involving less than $25,000 and criminal misdemeanors. District Court also oversees juvenile court and the magistrates, which handle things like small claims and evictions. Judges are elected for 4 year terms. There are 282 judges in 41 districts across the state, most of them covering either one or two counties. Legislation in 2023 numerically realigned/renumbered the District Court and other court districts to align with the Prosecutorial districts.

Position/philosophy statement
Prior to serving as a judge for the last 8 years, I worked as a prosecutor for nearly 10 years. In both those capacities, I've felt my job is both an honor and a duty. I am guided by the law, the facts, and the common sense God grants me.
Current Occupation
District Court Judge
Age (optional)
41
District court judges handle all divorces, custody matters, property distribution, child support, juvenile cases, cases involving DSS, magistrate appeals, domestic violence protective orders. Additionally, we handle all misdemeanor cases and probable cause hearings. In every case, I try to be fair and efficient. I work hard during court time and after to try and get orders and judgments out. It has been an honor to serve these last 8 years and I look forward to my continuing in that capacity.
None. While Court of Appeal and Supreme Court Justices make decisions that may fall on political lines, a person should not be able to tell the party affiliation of a district court judge. A judge should decide based on the law and facts and that does not change.
As a prosecutor from 2009-2018, I handled thousands of infractions, misdemeanors, and felonies. I handled seatbelt tickets and murder cases and everything in between. As a district court judge since January 1, 2019, I have handled thousands of cases involving criminal matters and thousands of cases involving family cases.
When I'm not working, I enjoy my biggest blessing, my 9 year old daughter. I am lay leader and lead the children's ministry at East Rockingham UMC where I have been a member since I was 4 years old. I volunteer with the Scotland County teen court and hosting field trips for 4th grade students in our district who come visit the courthouse and learn about our system.
It has been an honor to serve as a District Court Judge for the last eight years. I am thankful for all the support I've been given and would ask for your vote again in 2026.
