NC DISTRICT COURT JUDGE DISTRICT 20 SEAT 04 (UNEXPIRED)
The NC District Court hears civil cases involving less than $25,000 and criminal misdemeanors. District Court also oversees juvenile court and the magistrates, which handle things like small claims and evictions. Judges are elected for 4 year terms. There are 282 judges in 41 districts across the state, most of them covering either one or two counties. Legislation in 2023 numerically realigned/renumbered the District Court and other court districts to align with the Prosecutorial districts.

I have 62 years life experience and 36 years courtroom experience. I have a criminal law specialization designation from the NC State Bar. I have worked in District Court as a private attorney, a public defender and as a Prosecutor. I have been licensed in New Mexico and in North Carolina. I have the knowledge and personality needed to be a great District Court Judge. I can evaluate each case from the perspective of a defense attorney and a prosecutor. I have been called to testify in court about an old case and understand the nerves a witness has in Court.
The political platform of my party has no role in the courtroom. As a judge we are the neutral fact finders in each case applying the law to reach a just result.
I've practiced in all areas of District Court. In the early it's I was one of only 4 lawyers handling juvenile delinquency cases. I sat for an extra bar exam so I could be a State Criminal Law Specialist so that I could excel in my field. I've tried civil cases before a Judge and before a jury many times. I've tried many Dwi cases and resolve traffic tickets and misdemeanors of all types. As a solo practitioner in private practice I had to handle and be competent in all matters in District Court.
As a Cambell Law Graduate we are taught integrity in the law means everything. If elected I will always conduct myself with integrity and fairness to all who appear before me.
