The Hoke County Board of Education is the local governing body of the County Public School System. Its members are elected at large in nonpartisan races and serve staggered 4-year terms.The 5-member school board has 5 primary responsibilities:1. Employ the superintendent2. Establish policy3. Determine annual operating and capital budgets4. Approve student assignment boundaries5. Oversee the management of the school district’s major systems, including budget and finance, curriculum and instruction, personnel and auxiliary services

I am a School Board who cares, support, respect, very transparent, and advocate for all the staff in the district. I feel that everyone is important to the team regardless of your position. I am very familiar with writing and developing policies, reviewing budgets on the local, state, and federal level due to being on the School Board 2020 to 2024. I am very big on following the chain of command and holding the superintendent and his team accountable when it comes to addressing the parents and community concerns and making sure the families and community get a resolution to the issue. I am definitely big on being fair and consistent to everyone.l and every voice being heard.
School Board develop. review, and update policies. School Board set the direction for the School District. School Board holds the Superintendent accountable for making sure he/she is managing day to day operations and making sure policies is being implemented as written.
Student Achievement Safety Retention for teachers. Bus drivers. and all other school district staff Infrastructure for older schools and building new schools Ways to get Parents & Community more engaged
First we have to make it appealing for any staff to agree to come to Hoke County School District. We have to make sure we upgrade our discipline policy and holding these students accountable due to teachers feeling unsafe, not heard, not respected, not supported, and not valued. I feel that we should have a sign on bonus for all staff regardless of your position. For teachers especially new teachers we should have a mentor system for support. Administrators being held accountable showing support to their teachers and getting them what they need as supplies. I feel that we should also allotted each teacher funding to go to the School Supply store to get them started with supplies versus them having to buy items out of their funds
I feel that kindergarten is very vital to the program. This program helps push the foundation of learning what the child hasn't learned from home or Pre-k. I do feel that the policy should change as it relates to the age a child can start school. I feel that it should be mandatory that all children should be enrolled in school by age of 5 regardless if it is public, home school, or charter. I do feel that some parents takes advantage of the age they need to be enrolled in school and some children are missing out on the basic foundation if they aren't getting it at home. Kindergarten introduces the basic skills and it helps at early age to detect if additional services is needed for the child.
