My leadership has never been about titles; it has always been about showing up. I have shown up for parents who are worried about their children, for staff who need guidance or encouragement, and for community partners who need someone dependable. I have learned that leadership is often quiet it is found in the early morning hours when a center opens, in the late‑night phone calls when a family needs support, and in the steady presence required to keep programs running smoothly day after day. These experiences have taught me patience, empathy, and resilience. They have also taught me how to communicate with people from all backgrounds, how to build trust, and how to create environments where people feel safe and respected.
Hoke County’s most pressing issue is managing rapid growth in a way that protects existing residents while strengthening essential infrastructure. Families and businesses are feeling strain in areas like water reliability, roads, schools, and public safety. The County Commissioners will need to focus on responsible planning, transparent communication, and ensuring that services keep pace with the county’s expanding population.
Commissioners play a vital role in creating the conditions for strong schools. I believe in working closely with the School Board to understand their strategic plans, ensure transparent vetting of leadership, and support the goals they set for student success. I would encourage joint planning sessions, shared data reviews, and open communication so everyone at the table; educators, families, and county leaders can work toward the same outcomes. On the funding side, I support exploring grants, leveraging lottery funds, partnering with neighboring counties and state officials to expand resources. My focus is on bringing people together, aligning county priorities with school needs, making sure every child & educator can thrive.
Improving the county’s economy requires collaboration, responsible investment, and a focus on the people who make our community strong. I believe in bringing the School Board, business leaders, educators, and county officials to the same table to align priorities. I support exploring grants, state lottery funds, and partnerships with neighboring counties and higher levels of government to expand resources without increasing local burdens. Strengthening teacher recruitment, supporting workforce development, and improving infrastructure all contribute to long term economic growth. My focus is on policies that help residents succeed at life, attract high-quality employers, and create a community where families and businesses can thrive.
To strengthen social services in the county, I support improving coordination among DSS, public health, schools, law enforcement, and community partners so families receive seamless support. I believe in expanding resources by pursuing federal and state grants and forming regional partnerships to share specialized staff and services. Strengthening workforce recruitment and retention through competitive pay, training pipelines, and burnout‑prevention initiatives is essential. Improving access is also critical, including transportation options, mobile service units for rural areas, and digital modernization. Finally, investing in affordable housing, youth programs, senior services, and mental health partnerships.
At the end of the day, our county is strongest when everyone sits at the same table: social services, public health, schools, law enforcement, nonprofits, and community leaders working from a shared understanding of what families need. It’s about coordination, accountability, and making sure the right supports reach the right people at the right time. When we align our efforts, pursue additional resources, support a high-quality workforce, and invest in the community conditions that reduce long term demand, we create a healthier, more stable county for everyone. My focus is on collaboration, transparency, and building a service system that truly meets people where they are. Let's Put Hope Back in Hoke County.
